The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Give up on getting 4DO to work and switch to RetroArch?

Hi guys. I've been having a real tough time getting 3DO emulation going. I can't use FreeDO because I get the ASPI error (and can't resolve it since I'm running Win 7 64bit.) I can get 4DO to run games well but when I tried to add it to Hyperlaunch and get the games to launch in Hyperspin I'm running into an issue. After selecting a game, the 4DO window pops up but it isn't fullscreen and nothing happens. All of my games are either bin/cue or iso/cue. I have done the following:

- Renamed the bios to fz10.rom

-"After Startup, Open Last game" option enabled

Am I missing something? Would it be easier for me to just use RetroArch (I haven't tried that yet.)

I actually switched almost every emulator over to RetroArch just because of the ease of controlling most systems from 1 emulator. It also has a great filtering system.

I never tried the 4DO emulator so I cant offer any support. But I do have 3DO working with the RetroArch 4DO core.

Thanks, I am going to give RetroArch a go. I have been looking for filters for SSF and can't get them to work so maybe I can use RetroArch as a Saturn emulator too and have the benefit of filters.

Yabause? Man that's a bummer. I tried getting SweetFX to work for SSF but I don't understand it at all. Supposedly I'm supposed to just drop the files from the injector into the SSF folder and it is supposed to work? Have you given this a try Joe?

I have SweetFX working with SSF. I can drop my files in the emulator tonight.

I'm using Retroarch for 3DO as well but as far as I know, there's no way to switch disks so games that require multiple disks may not be playable at this point. Can anyone confirm this?

Probably a very noob question but by "drop the files in the emulator tonight" are you saying you'll put the files somewhere only Platinum Members can access?

I gave up on RetroArch after it kept telling me my 4do core was not valid. I decided to try 4do again on its own. Turns out my problem was I was trying to run bin files and that doesn't work. All my iso games launched fine.

I tried converting the bin file (Dragons Lair) to iso and modifying the cue accordingly but it still won't run. Anyone have luck converting 3do bin files?

Nope. You can't convert them. I had the same problem. I went through my rom set and kept the ISO roms only. Had to download all the other roms from the TOSEC rom set (ISO/CUE). Also, deleting the cue files from the ISO set helps.

The Hyperspin ready set on PD is really crappy. It's a mix of img/ccd, bin/cue, iso and iso/cue and they are not even named properly.

The good thing is that I went through all the 3DO games and removed all the crappy interactive stuff (atlas, animals, rubiks cube...) and all the kiddy games from the "official" xml.
