Hello,

everytime i want to start MAME i get this error:

Cannot find C:\_HyperSpin\Databases\MAME\MAME.xml

I dont know why its Pointing to C: , i have installed everything in G: like this "G:\_Hyperspin" and here is where my xml are stored

G:\Hyperspin\Databases\MAME

Do you have any idea what could be wrong with my setup or how to point it to the right Databases?

Welcome to the forum Crocop.

That does sound strange, is it HyperSpin or HyperLaunch throwing up that error? Post your HyperSpin log. The only other thing I can think of is the naming of the system or if it's on an external drive.

Thank you :)

I'm not sure how to tell Hyperlaunch to look in a different location for the xml files (the default is the C drive and that's why you're having the issue.) What you can do though is just create a C:\_HyperSpin\Databases\MAME folder on your C drive and put the xml in there. It sucks that its a file you don't want on your C drive, but it shouldn't take up much room to just have the xmls on your C drive until you can find a permanent solution.

Strange that you have an underscore in the path (G:\_Hyperspin\Programme\HyperSpin Startup Script\) not seen that before.

The error is from HyperLaunch not HyperSpin.

HyperSpin is also using a version of HyperLaunch located in the root folder of HyperSpin, which is not good. If your using RocketLaunch it should be in a separate folder.

Have a look at this http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/7625-hyperspin-1330-new-user-guide/

Really you should ask Austin, either here or on his Youtube channel.

Edit:Just looked at your folder, did Austins guide say to place HyperLaunch there??  HyperLaunch and Hyperspin both have media folders so putting them together is bad. You may need to start again.

Posted

You have a HyperLaunch HQ folder but no HyperLaunch folder. The HyperLaunch HQ folder is normally located inside the HyperLaunch folder.

Ok now im confused. In Austins video he do not have a HyperLaunch folder too.

Can you give me a link to an guide u would normaly use?

OK, I had to go a watch his guide or up to around 11 minutes in. What he has done is wrong by dragging the entire contents of the zip into the HyperSpin folder. As you can see from the video he overwrites the Media folder, so putting Hyperlaunch media in the Hyperspin Media folder. That may still work to a degree but the folders will be a confused mess, I'm surprised no one mentioned it in his comments.

What should have happened is when he opened the zip he should have picked up the HyperLaunch folder and dropped that in, or created a HyperLaunch folder and copied the contents across. It's also not updating HyperSpin it's just mixing HyperLaunch and HyperSpin, two very separate programs.

Here's a written guide http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/2187-how-to-install-hyperspin/

I also do video guides and they can be found in my signature, but you should mention this to Austin.

Ok thank you. I have contacted him over Facebook, but he didnt answer me, thats why i am here now :)

I was just wondered what i could have done wrong. You mentioned something about rocketlauncher too, what is that?

<edit>

in this tutorial you posted, no links are working, it is pointing me to the forums only?

That is just the new name for HyperLaunch. Really any support for HyperLaunch should be dealt with at the RocketLauncher site http://www.rlauncher.com

I have also asked him to look at this thread as I may be giving you bad info and things may have changed recently regarding installing HyperLaunch/RocketLauncher as I only visit there occasionally.

I have followed the guide you gave me and now i have everything setup like it should (Hyperlaunch folder in Hyperspin and so on).

I just have a last question about the Databases. I want to use my own Databases and with HyperROM2XML i can create it. But the first problem is with symbols like "&" and " ' " and some other, so Hyperlaunch gives me errors when i want to audit it for all games on the system.

The second problem is that i dont have the structure of the xml like this:

<game name="" index="" image="">
<description></description>
<cloneof></cloneof>
<crc></crc>
<manufacturer></manufacturer>
<year></year>
<genre></genre>
<rating></rating>
<enabled></enabled>

Is there any other program that can handle that? For example i dont want those Japanese Games that i cant read anyway, so i want to build up only US and Europe Games in my Database, but without loosing those informations aboth, is that possible?

Thank you again, i will going to test it later and report back :)

<Edit>

This one is working better thanks, but do i have to enter the rest all by hand like year, genre, manufactrurer and so on?

Hi all!

Gigapig is 100% correct.  HyperLaunch/RocketLauncher and HyperSpin are two separate programs and should be installed into two separate folders.

If someone is doing this to save editing one line in one config file, it is a shortcut that will cause all kinds of issues with your setup.

I personally would recommend putting everything in it's own folders.  In my setup, here is an example:

G:\Emulators\...

G:\HyperLaunch\...

G:\HyperSpin\...

G:\Roms\...

I believe this is a more intelligent way to go.  This enables you to find and backup just what you need to.

Anyway, just my two cents worth.  ;)

Thanks,

Ron

Thanks rfancella, thats how im doing it now :)

My only Problem left at the moment is how i get the Game information into the Databases :(

Hi,

That's a tough question.

Many of the databases in HyperList have all the info in them.  The ones that don't, you have to either find one or add the info into it.  Generating the database does not add anything but name and description.

A good tool to add info into your database is HyperT00ls.  (notice the zeros)

http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/5356-hypert00ls-your-hyperspin-and-hyperpausehyperlaunch-media-help/?hl=hypert00ls

Thanks,

Ron

Just a question from a silly old man....

Why are you not using the official databases that already have that information in them?

Thanks,

Ron

Hmm ok i see i have to put those information myself in it. But Hypert00ls seems to be a good help for that, thanks again :)

I want to do my own Database since i dont want Japanase Games in it and im using German Games instead of the US ones. So that i dont have multiple Games with different languages im just using those that i need. And i even use "hacked" Games like those Legend of Zelda for SNES. If you have a good idea how i could manage that in a better way, let me know please :P

Thank you gigapig, ill have a look on that :)

:D

Nope, you have to generate your own.  ;)  Was just curious.

Thanks,

Ron
