Steam Big Picture

Hi,

First of all thanks to everyone who is continuing to participate in the community and help us (or me =)) out! Much appreciated in advance.

So essentially I have everything working the way I like it, with one small issue. I need Hyerspin to launch Steam in Big Picture mode from the main wheel. So far I have manged to achieve this via HyperspinHQ and it works, but the problem is then I am stuck with the main interface xpadder profile. I attempted to get around this using autoprofiles with steam.exe and a blank profile and it works to some level but when I am done with Steam I get left with no profile on Hypersin again.

So I know there is a way to launch Steam via Hyperlaunch, possibly using the PCLauncher (I believe this would solve my problems) but as of yet I haven't been able to figure out how to use it properly and my powers of the Google haven't helped me either.

Could someone give me some relatively simple instructions on how to achieve this?

Thanks for that suggestion.

I have seen that, but it deals with launching games directly. I just want to launch Steam in big picture mode via Hyperlaunch. I did notice though at the very end of his video he has "Steam" on his wheel, which is what I have but using Hyperspin launcher rather than Hyperlaunch (I just want this to get a tighter control hold on xpadder profiles as I need to map a blank one when I call Steam and have it change back to the main menu profile when Steam goes away).

Maybe there is a better way to control xpadder that I am not aware of. What is best practice ot have it start as profile for main menu then have it work with stuff like Steam?

When I deal with a normal emulator it just maps the p1/2/3/4 profile then remaps the Hyperspin profile which is excellent and works, but I have no way of controlling it for Steam (a blank profile), I did try auto profiles but it turns out that is a mine field of problems.

I have successfully managed to do what you want but it will go to the sub wheel.

So first in HyperHQ I created the wheel called Steam Big Picture and said it had a sub wheel.

Next I created a database for that new system with only 1 entry in it and that was again SBP

<menu>
  <header>
    <listname>txt</listname>
    <listversion />
    <lastlistupdate>1/6/2014</lastlistupdate>
    <exporterversion>HyperTools 4.3.25</exporterversion>
  </header>
    <game name="Steam Big Picture" index="" image="">
    <description>Steam Big Picture</description>
    <cloneof />
    <manufacturer />
    <crc />
    <genre />
    <year />
    <rating />
    <enabled>Yes</enabled>
  </game>
</menu>

Now I fired up HyperLaunch HQ and had the new entry in the left pane.

Highlight it and click the emulator tab, then choose the default emulator which will be PCLauncher, Hopefully you already have that set up under Global, if not go there and check the Virtual Emulators box, that's all.

Lastly go back to the system and now choose the Modules tab, highlight PCLauncher and click on the "Edit Global Module Settings" box

Now if all is well you should see this when you click on the Rom Settings tab.

If you see that code in the applications box then it should launch straight into SBP, there is no need to do anything else.

I hope that helps. :)

First of all Gigz, thank you very much. This did not exactly work but it did put me on the right path to getting it working.

First of all the PCLauncher did not appear as a selectable emulator (even after selecting virtual emulator) and module until I opened the Hyperlaunch\Modules\PCLauncher\PCLauncher.ahk and changed:

MSystem = "Games for Windows","Microsoft Windows","PCLauncher","PC Games","Taito Type X","Touhou"

to

MSystem = "Games for Windows","Microsoft Windows","PCLauncher","PC Games","Taito Type X","Touhou","Steam Big Picture"

Then restarted HyperlaunchHQ and it was selectable on the left pane under Steam Big Picture.

After that, I followed your instructions and I couldn't do it as easily as I thought. For the edit global settings button I recalled in your video you must expand the window to show the +/x delete buttons to add Steam (that confused me at first). But that worked.

I had to add "Steam Big Picture" then add the path to Steam. So my screen looked a bit different to yours but it seems to work. In Steam's options I set it to always launch in Big Picture mode, I guess that helped.

Thanks again!
