Someone on BYOAC was looking for something to do this and it's been in the back of my head for at least a year or so but hadn't found the time to whip up anything until yesterday :) I figured i'd post it here as well just in case anybody found it useful.

Introducting: Mame Config-O-Matic by theob42

Tired of having to always wiggle that joystick left and right in MAME to get rid of the warning messages? Have no clue and/or are lazy to recompile MAME yourself to get rid of the warning?

Try MAME Config-O-Matic by theob42!

Just pick your MAME config folder, Pick your roms folder. and then run it! It will automatically create all the default config files for you so you never have to see another nag screen again!

Note: It will not overwrite any existing rom specific config files if they already exist so no worries about it messing up your MAME setup :)

If you have any suggestions feel free to bug me.

Enjoy!

Awesome :) Glad to hear it is of use to people.

I used it too and I must say it is a great little tool. Thank you for putting this together.

Even though I'm using a no-nag build of mame, this tool was super useful in creating all the cfg files with the appropriate "system-name" so that I could open them all, and through a notepad++ macro add my overscan and joystick sensitivity settings to each one. Sure as hell beats doing it manually per-game, cheers.

But seriously, why doesn't mame save/read slider-controls from the default.cfg :(

edit: oh to get it to work I temporarily changed all of my roms' extensions from 7z to zip, in case some of you have trouble getting it to write any files at first, it only looks for zip files.
