wiggy2k
Well about 6 month ago I built this little thing as a bit of a folly Hyperspin based emulator for the console I spent the latter part of my childhood playing. (Megadrive with its various add-ons) using original controllers (had to happen - I don't understand people who emulate a console and then use xbox controllers or whatever) With a "marquee" style monitor in the cartridge which displays the actual cart art for the game being played. Started as faulty consoles sourced from ebay / facebook selling groups. etc stripped them out and built a mini ITX PC as per usual. I added a 500GB sata hdd (ample for the sega 8-16 bit sets - which is all that will be running on it.) upgraded to a sata DVD rewriter so it can act as a DVD player too. rerouted the LED and eject buttons to the correct locations in the MegaCD case. (parts raped from an old ATX case. added a pico PSU to keep everything self contained. I hollowed out an original game cartridge and replaced the label with a small LCD display from a vehicle reversing camera (cheap as chips on amazon) added HDMI out and a couple of USB ports for while I was building it and for adding a keyboard as and when required. anyway have a look at the pictures attached, it should be pretty self explanatory as how it all went together. wiggy2k
Thanks, i think it totally finished the whole thing off, otherwise it would have been just another itx project in a megadrive case. tried to re-use as many original parts as possible, even butchered the original controller ports from the broken motherboard as the ones on the retrobit adapter were shoddy. Agrajag
Very impressive. Let's see that cartridge marquee in action!
dark13
Looks really good, i love it Probably I would left 32x out of the equation, md1+mcd1 looks really polished while 32x seems to be made for md2...
Agrajag
Still looks better than the Jaguar CD drive / toilet seat.
dark13
Still looks better than the Jaguar CD drive / toilet seat. Well... NO!. Jaguar/jaguar cd had a ridiculous design BUT jaguar cd was (badly) made to fit jaguar. 32x on top of megadrive1 resemble a random piece of hardware glued into cart slot for no apparent reason (or most probably an indian totem for indian's devil worshippers) 32X on a md2/mcd2 looks much better... not a "real deal" but at last something you can live with...
