Pollux Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I got my PC Games running fine with .lnk if they do not need to run an ISO (or any other image file). However, I want to run some other games than need an ISO to play. Is it possible to get all together or must I create another wheel for this ones? How can I run them via DT like Sega Saturn games? Thanks in advance. ps: if there is already a topic for this matter just let me know as I was unable to find it.
Kevinlives Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Interesting question. I will need to tackle this eventually too. I may be dead wrong, but I'm thinking that if a CD check is required by a PC game, then the game itself handles the process. Thus, I don't know if any interaction from a module regarding a virtual drive would be necessary. Have you tried running these games requiring image files through HyperSpin yet? If so, have you at least gotten to a prompt/warning/general annoyance from the game regarding the missing disc? Here is a possible solution. It's not very eloquent, but it might just work unless you have a ton of these games you are trying to run. 1. Figure out how many images you are needing to have mounted at any given time. 2. Create additional virtual drives in DT Lite, one for each of these images. Don't forget to allow for the drive(s) you may be using for the other systems. 3. Mount each of your images to separate drives. I know for a fact that DT Lite keeps these images mounted even after a reboot. 4. Set up your games through HyperSpin as you would the other PC games. 4. ???? 5. Profit! I have no idea if this will work for you, but it'll at least give you something to try until one of the mad scientists around here propose a more streamlined solution.
Hypnoziz Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Take a look at the HyperLaunch module for ePSXe. It determines if you're running an image or directly running the game from a file and takes appropriate action depending on the situation. http://hyperlist.hyperspin-fe.com/?module=browseahk&system=135 Of course, you'd need to modify the module. Use DT virtual drives instead of SCSI and have is check for more than just the ".cue" extension (in the event that you have a ".iso" or similar). <em class='bbc'>"But does one ever truly have a choice? However my son likes to play Skylanders "Spyro's Adventure" and this image is supposed to run in a SCSI virtual drive... Do you think I'll be able to get it to work? TKS
brolly Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Will you be running the game from the actual iso or it's simply a matter of the game requiring the iso to be mounted? The upcoming PCLauncher module will already deal with the later scenario, I'm guessing that's what you need as I can't think why you'd want to run a game directly from a cd/iso, but I'm asking anyway.
Pollux Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 I have Blizzard and NFS games (original ones) and they require to run from CD so I made an ISO file from them. In order to play them I need to mount the image (or else I need to carry my disks all the time). What I want is to play those games via HS like I usually do in my pc. Does this fit in second scenario?

If your Blizzard games are Diablo, Warcraft or Starcraft then you're in luck as they were kind enough to actually make no CD patches for most of their older games. W3 and next are ok but the for old ones I don't have "official" NO CD patches. However I have NFS games and others that have the same "problem".
djvj Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Try looking here for no-cd patches. I've been using them for many years: http://www.gamecopyworld.com/games/gcw_index.shtml "Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music."RocketLauncher's Official Home If you appreciate my work:My Apps:Window LoggerIdle Volume AdjusterExplorerRestorerRom Folder CleanerModule UpdaterMy Guides:How To Mod Guncons with Aimtrak

So i take it your running the old HL cause the new one dont use .lnk and im pretty sure the new HL modules handles DT different. A boy stuck in a mans body
brolly Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 No, he's running HL2. Running the games from the actual CD? Can't the games be installed in the HDD? That would be very strange. Usually you install the games in the HDD and then the game requires the CD to be in the drive to do a CD-Check, in those cases you can simply patch the game with a no-cd patch as suggested above. If there's no cd patch for that game the new PCLauncher will already allow you to mount the CD for the CD-Check, but it won't work if you want to run the game from the actual cd you'll need to copy/install it to your HDD first.
Pollux Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 I have HL2.25 and HS1.2 and I know GCW for years (thanks anyway djvj). The problem is some patches don't allow you to play online (p.ex. Blizzard games). Another example is Sam & Max Season One. I have it but now I'm running a cracked copy because making an image of this game requires apps like GameJackal... My question here is to know if I can avoid this apps or cracks using DT.
brolly Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Like I said if you actually install the game then yes it will be possible on the new PCLauncher. Running from the iso is also possible of course, but you'll need to code it yourself, I don't know why you'd do it this way instead of installing the game.

Pollux Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 I have those games installed but they do a cd-check. Starcraft (Expansion Pack), Warcraft 2 (BattleNet Edition), Need For Speed Most Wanted and Sam & Max Season One are games that do this CD-Check thing. In order to run this (original) games I must have an image or the disk itself.
brolly Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Then if you aren't in a hurry I suggest you wait for the new HL release as the new PCLauncher version will already deal with those situations. Otherwise you'll need to create prelaunch and postlaunch scripts to mount/unmount the cds.
damageinc86 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I'm using the pclauncher under HyperspinHQ,..have all the shortcuts good to go,...but have this problem as well. My jedi knight II needs the ISO mounted for the game to do a cd check, and all the no-cd patches render the multiplayer functionality of the game useless, so I just made an iso off the original disc and have been manually mounting it in DTLite before i play the game,...but it would be cool to have a "PCLauncher DTLite ISO mount" module or option somewhere that would look for the iso of the same name as the xml entry, and tell daemon tools to mount it just like they do for other disc based systems.
djvj Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 PC launcher already supports that exact functionality with Daemon Tools. There is a module setting and you can set for the game to point to an Iso and if found daemon tools will mount it for you. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4. damageinc86 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Thanks,...I checked it out after that post,...and it is working perfectly!...you guys are genuis'. I love the drag shortcut option to set up the games.
damageinc86 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Now I'm trying to do crazy taxi 3, and even though i pointed the pclauncher iso to the iso of my disc I made, the game doesn't look at the dt-drive it seems-as it still gives me the error message. Even though DT mounted the image, I guess the game doesn't want to search in that drive, only the physical one? I dunno. hoping i can get a patch for this one.
