For anyone now using Windows 11 (242H)
Just a heads up ....
If you have any PC games that are cracked, I suggest you check if they are working as I have gone through mine since updating and found at least 20% of them don't, mainly due to RocketLauncher now being unable to load them or the crack no longer working (all Empress ones now fail) ALL WORKED FINE ON 23H2.
I knew it was too good to be true that everything would work and I am now sifting through 700+ PC games to see what now works and what doesn't.

Just checked my Hyperspin, It's working now also, I've been in process of switching to launchbox, but a lot of bureaucracy is still there (the shit i was trying to get away from). However, with a bit of tweaking and some willingness to do without a few features on my part, I think I could come out a little better by the time I have everything set up. Here is where I'm at so far with setting up Launchbox (note, Lb crashed on me in the first few minutes, but was fine afterwards) I'm in process of creating Rlauncher style loading screens and as far as the pause menu goes, I think the content deliver is a bit more efficient so most pause menus are actually not even required.
Nobody wants to see Launchbox here on the Hyperspin forums.
If you want something that looks like Hyperspin, but actually works .... use Hyperspin 1.5

100 percent correct. I added basically everything as a test... and not only did it falter... but to add a new system.. I had to keep deleting the cache to get it added. And the load times went through the roof.
Not only does it cache EVERY single rom, even worse it does the same for EVERY single item of media too , hence why it takes forever to load up
Whoever created this had nothing to do with the original Hyperspin that’s for certain.

It has nothing to do with the themes. I'll admit that initially it was disappointing to loose all the flash themes but the community quickly stopped complaining about that.
It makes sense to stop supporting it and I believe most forum members are not opposed.
Flash has not been mentioned in HS2 complaints for a long while. I hope that someday soon we will stop getting responses like this.
Nobody complains anymore because they just don't care one way or the other.
No matter what they do to Hyperspin 2.0 it's not going to work.
In 5 months they have literally got nowhere and that's all down to the way it has been built.
I suggested a few weeks in that they start again because they had hit ALL the same problems Launchbox did with speed and cache files etc, but they didn't listen and now there is no going back.
It's just a cash grabbing Launchbox clone at best and they don't give a monkeys what the community thinks.

Exactly like Launchbox
I tried to tell them months ago but they thought they knew better …
they should rename it Titanic 2.0 because it’s an absolute disaster that’s just hit the iceberg and will be on its way down to the bottom of the ocean very soon.

So we have now got an update today. Does that mean we only going to get news of what is going on once a Month now?
I am only asking, so I dont raise my expectations, during the Long wait for the next update, though it was promised we would be informed every couple of weeks.
It still takes forever to load up, and even when that happens it just sits there unable to load Hyperspin.
Also, what's is the point on doing HyperTheme first ?
Get it (Hyperspin) working at least , then we might be able to use it.
Priority No1 ..... Get it loading faster .... Currently, I can literally watch Ben Hur while it's loading and even when that's finished it's still chugging away

I did use Emu to download system media I wanted to replace when I got HS 1.5 working again but the media names are totally different from the latest databases and game names. I want to have the latest MAME arcade and software releases. Think it's like MAME 277.
So I'd have to go 1 by 1 and change each EMU old video name, wheel name and theme name to match every new MAME game and Softwarelists games in like 10 systems that I have. That seems pretty untenable.
I haven't heard anyone mention a tool that can do that kind of search and replace with fuzzy logic and change media names to new game names and xml database names.
If there is one I stand corrected but until then there's no way I have time to do this by hand for hundreds or thousands of games if I want to add a system to HS 1.5
MAME software naming is literally the only one EmuMovies doesn't use.
Just download any set of roms for NES, SNES , Sega Master System etc and point EmuMovies Sync at them and it will download all the media with correct names.
Same for the MAME Arcade set.
Only problem it will have is missing media as even to this day a lot are missing, but 70-80+% will be available.

I've been using it for years and had everything going since 2018, I mean you could probably click on my profile before posting a silly comment?
Until this stupid Windows update crap and Hyper-Sync being non existent it worked fine for me. No one is bagging on original HS but has started to die now that it's not being supported and being blocked by Windows.
I ended up fixing the Windows update problem but here's nothing I can do about not being able to add art easily in Hyperspin 1.5. I'm not going to stick themes in folders 1 by 1. Hyper-Sync is dead...
You really shouldn't concern yourself with what anyone else does or chooses. I see you're a little annoyed on the subject of people migrating to Hyperspin 2 since you commented on it so I'll leave it at that.
I am only annoyed because it's trash.
If you want a working Hyperspin 2.0 use Launchbox, because that's all it is ever going to be.
Launchbox has a 8 year head start on Hyperspin 2.0 and has literally everything you could ever want built into it ...
Trouble is, it's still useless because it runs like a one legged horse (I should know, I have it all setup with 250,000 games on it.
Hyperspin on the other hand runs as smooth as silk (in conjunction with RocketLauncher) and that's why it will NEVER be surpassed.
Enjoy Hyperspin 2.0 ... in about 5 years when they finally get it working.
Also, you do know you can use EmuMovies on your desktop to download all media per system ?
There has been no need for HyperSync for years.
Only things you can't get are themes, but they are all on these forums anyway.

With no easy way to add art to new systems what's the point? In addition HS1 isn't even supported anymore so it's just a matter of time until something in Windows breaks it again. When HS2 has all the themes and can download all the art quickly what will be the point of HS1 running on deprecated Flash themes. I'd love to know...
Hyperspin has not been updated for a decade, yet still works perfectly.
You have obviously never used it or you wouldn't be asking.
They have been saying it's dead for years, yet still it is the best Frontend out there.
If you want to use Hyperspin 2.0 then go for it, but if you ask anyone in here what's the best, 99% will say Hyperspin 1.5

I am using 23H2 and so far so good, but I have read somewhere that Microsoft might enforce the migration to 23H4 even if you have blocked the updates. I don't know if it's true or even possible.
I have been using it (23H2) for 6 months+ and no sign of forced upgrade.
Also, I am sure you will have the option of installing it or not if and when it finally (if ever) appears.

Though I would try Hyperspin 2.0 out after a month or so , expecting some changes ….
sadly it’s still woeful , HyperHQ jamming up all the time and then Hyperspin takes forever to load up (10+ minutes) then when the bar finally loads , Hyperspin jams up in the task manager and you have to start it up all over again
This is quite possibly THE worst beta I have ever known.
10 years without doing anything from the Hyperspin team …
They shouldn’t have bothered coming back because so far it’s a complete disaster

Hi I got hyperspin going and can pla all the games but it's weird the game will run normal then all of a sudden it starts running at like 2 or 3 times the normal speed and I have no idea how to fix it, anyone know how?
To fix Supermodel games running too fast in HyperSpin, you can try adjusting the emulator's CPU frequency or enabling VSync in the game or graphics card settings. You might also need to configure HyperSpin or your graphics card to limit frame rate or refresh rate

This is just unbelievable. It's like satan has decided o fuck this up at all costs. I managed to uninstall 2 og the 3 updates. I can't remember which ones. The third was just not possible to delete. Windows said it was uninstalled but it wasn't. It turned out there was an error that would only show when trying to uninstall the update using cmd. I used ChatGPT for help and we tried for hours and hours with all possible solutions but it just would not work. So I reinstalled windows keeping all my programs and files. Great! Hyperspin was working again. Managed to block KB5055523 and no more updates were found. Fantastic! Boom! Out of the blue comes update KB5055627 and fucks it all up. Now this update is totally impossible to block from updating. Used ChatGPT again for hous and hours trying everything. Including task schedueler to hide the update every time i log in to Windows. Nothing works. Turns out that KB5055627 replaces that one update that I could not uninstall in the first place. This can be seen when searching for it in Microsoft Update Catalog.
I Give up now. I've been using this install of Hyperspin for 8 years. A sad day indeed.
And even worse they (Hyperspin) will never fix it and are ecstatic about it not working, because it means nobody can sell Hyperspin anymore (Unless you use Windows before Windows 11 24H2 update).
They hate their customers so much they would rather stop everyone from using it, just so Chris Shaw can't sell a couple of drives

You are all just flogging a dead horse.
There is no way any of you created the original Hyperspin , because if you did you would not have left it to rot and then go off and create this Launchbox ripoff to replace it.
A good company always listens to its customers , sadly that wasn’t the case.
Hyperspin in conjunction with Rocketlauncher is a masterpiece and if you had just upgraded it, everyone would have been ecstatic.
Now , nobody even cares if you are working on Hyperspin 2.0 or not.
You are 7 years behind Launchbox in development and it literally has everything built into it already …. And it’s still nowhere near the level of Hyperspin 1.5.
The words epic and fail spring to mind.
Also, maybe focus on getting Hyperspin 2.0 to actually work first and load up in less than 10 minutes before looking to fix HyperTheme.

Im assuming the project is taking a break (Maybe dead)... or theres a huge rewrite of the cache coming. Which seems to be the source of all the issues.
Hopefully they are scrapping it completely and looking at upgrading Hyperspin 1.5 instead.
This is what we all want

Hi folks,
A few years back I got a new PC and ported everything over. I never got Hyperspin to work on my PC and I didn't really worry about it.
Now I've downloaded the new version and can't get it to run either. I figure since I'm going to be uploading themes and playing around with it I should take teh time to figure this out. It's been a while since I've been here so I'm not sure what info you need to help me.
I click Hyperspin and nothing happens. I'm not sure if I have the wrong path or what... lol

16 hours ago, Dazz said:Sorry, but there is no use in making it open source... This has been said before, but HS 1.x was built using AS3, Flash, and several third-party non-open source plugins. Even if we were to release the source for HS, the third-party plugins necessary are no longer available. Without these plugins being available, it would require a complete re-write of the whole HS engine... that would take as long, or even longer, than continuing with HS2. We, and the dev team, couldn't do anything with HS1 code even if we really wanted to.
Instead of fighting and trying to work around old coding and tech, HS2 is the way to go. Anyone is more than welcome to keep using HS 1.5 until they are willing to switch to HS 2.Hyperspin 2.0 is not Hyperspin anymore.
By tying it all up behind encryption, no xmls , all having to use the same themes, can’t backup your files , it’s not portable and on and on is the reason why I want Hyperspin 1.5 updated instead.
At best it will just be another Launchbox and that has a 7 year head start on Hyperspin 2.
I bet if you had asked all your members what they wanted before you started Hyperspin 2 as it is , 90% would have said to rewrite Hyperspin 1.5 and keep it all as it was with improved resolution etc
To not just upgrade Hyperspin 1.5 (which still to this day is THE GOAT of front ends) and go in another direction instead is just unbelievable.
I have been a member for over a decade and have all fronts including Launchbox. None come close to Hyperspin.
I hope I am proved wrong and Hyperspin 2 surpasses 1.5 , but I can already see it won’t.
ps,
Thanks for the reply

Seeing as Hyperspin has decided to discontinue Hyperspin 1.5 and therefore it’s just going to sit on a computer alone for all eternity , why can’t you now make it Opensource ?
The new Hyperspin 2.0 has no similarities to it either.
At least then the people who still love to use it can see it improved to run at high resolutions etc.
if not, can someone just take a look at it to see if it can be upgraded to 1920x1080 while we wait for Hyperspin 2.0 to get to any kind of working level.
IMO it will be years before it’s running anywhere close to 1.5 (if ever)

Unless he changes Hyperspin 2 completely and reverts back to using xml’s and making a portable system like Hyperspin 1.5 this is doomed from the start.
There is NO way anyone is building a system with 100’s of wheels with it all being encrypted and no way to back it up or change it at will.
Even Launchbox still uses xml and it’s portable so there is no excuse.
I just can’t understand why Hyperspin 1.5 can’t just be updated from 1024x768 to 1920x1080 at least.
Like the saying goes ….
If it ain’t broke DON’T fix it.

Also you should probably let @fr0stbyt3know about that default theme situation you are having because I am positive that you have something effed up with your install. That screenshot is not a normal thing and once you get it fixed you will see that the default theme actually works the way that you are asking about.
Also, both of the above platforms have default themes created and are syncing so I think you are going to be shocked to see what you are missing out on once you get your setup repaired or reinstalled
i have re-installed it about 20 times now and have set exclusions in Windows defender, deleted everything from my computer to ensure a clean install each time and each time the same results.
I am using Windows 11 64bit version 23H2 just in case that's relevant.
One thing I did notice when I was looking at HyperTheme a few weeks ago was that it was coming up with multiple logins for me (maybe this is the issue) ?
Maybe every time I am wiping it clean my end then starting again it's not clearing some data your end, because I know 100% it's not on my computer.
Maybe if it was portable and didn't have files literally scattered all over Windows it would be much easier to fix ?
Also, there is no doubt that it will LOOK awesome, all I am saying is no matter what you do with it, the way it's all setup you will have exactly the same speed issues as Launchbox using a cache system and encrypting the hell out of everything.
That's why even to this day, even though I have a huge Launchbox setup with 300,000 games which looks amazing .... it's totally unusable due to it's speed and they have been updating it for 7+ years.
On the other hand, the same setup on Hyperspin 1.5 couldn't care less about what you throw at it and just keeps flying along at it's usual speedy self, meaning it will always be my No1 go to Frontend.
Surely there is a better way of stopping people selling Hyperspin.
That shouldn't be an issue I would have thought (people selling it) but obviously you want them to HAVE to purchase a different setup every time they do.
If you asked people what their top priority was I am guessing they would say speed. HyperHQ media looks great but in the end is irrelevant because all that's important looks wise in the end is the Hyperspin wheel and media, which to be fair (once the 15 minute load time has finished) scrolls very quickly.

What i mean by unusable is that it does not use the default Hyperspin theme when one does not exist and simply puts the wheelart over the Main Menu theme instead (see attached)
This on top of taking 15+ minutes just to load Hyperspin up to me makes it currently unusable.
Sadly I think you are heading exactly the same way Launchbox did .... even after 7+ years it's like a Ferrari with a moped engine as it runs at a snails pace, be it loading times, exiting times or just generally scrolling through your setup.
It's the cache system/encryption that will doom it in the end (IMO), but at least I still have Hyperspin 1.5 which looks like it will NEVER be equalled
Apologies if I sound negative, but after hoping to see Hyperspin 2 for 10 years+ this isn't what I thought it would be (for me anyway)
Just a simple HD version of Hyperspin 1.5 would have been awesome.
