SORHP Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 quick question... which package is going to be considered the most favored of the sound packs to use on the disne7 version of the game? My Arcade Machines...
frostyfire03530 Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 For me personally, I like the HD pack that Bag of Magic Food and I put together. It doesn't have any of the voiceovers, but it's the closest to the right BG sounds. I'm talking with Jr.Pac over on the IAM forum and if I can get some of his SFXs then I'll make two HD options one that doesn't have voiceovers, and one that does. Some other members have done certain sounds, like Bags did a new fixing sound, it has a paper crumple sound in the background, user aldiode submitted some that he has tried to fix, like the "ping ping ping pong!" noise for fixing, he's tried to mix out the paper sound. Some of them are older like the two wavs from theBasement, it was some of the first wavs to be modded in. I think I'll add a column for dates added and it might shed some light on when sounds were made and which ones are newer.
Trnzaddict Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Where's the new ping ping ping pong sound with the crumpled paper removed? It's not included in the fixitsoundszip. I am......Machine
prostkxy Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I don't know if I have missed it but where can I download the new sounds from? is it in drop box?
frostyfire03530 Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 @Trnzaddict: Sorry, I had the new sound1.wav sitting in the same folder as the others, but didn't compile it in the zip with the others, I just added it. @prostkxy: They are located in the first second post of this thread under the CodeMystics' version under mods.
Bag of Magic Food Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Has anyone had any success with editing the graphics for the FOCAL game? I've found that even so much as opening texture2.bmp in Paint and saving it will cause the transparency to break, so that every object is inside a black box, and all black turns back to red, as it appears in the file. Opening and saving it in Paint.NET caused the graphics to go completely blank after the initial boot-up character scramble. It doesn't seem to help whether I save it as 8-bit or 24-bit. I guess there's some kind of metadata in there that I don't know how to preserve.
frostyfire03530 Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 If took texture2.bmp into Photoshop and I tried to change the Indexed color palette to RGB and use layers, but this would always corrupt the file. I also tried exporting the Indexed color palette and applying it to the edited file. It fixed the black block backgrounds on sprites, but it kept the red colors that should have been transparent. The only way I could mod the file, was by making only color matches with the eyedropper and drawing pixel by pixel what I want with the pencil tool (1px brush). I would then just click the save button on the file I was working on (a copy most of the time) and I was able to mod texture2.bmp. HAPPY RALPH END PHASE Edit: Added the file to the Mods List
Bag of Magic Food Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Oh, nice, you drew the sprites for the scene we only saw in 3D! So are you saying I need to buy Photoshop if I want to make my own mod? (And does the fact that it's a 256-color bitmap have anything to do with why the palette is so far off compared to other versions of the game?)
frostyfire03530 Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 You could always try Gimp instead of buying Photoshop, it's an awesome open source photo editor! I'm not for sure about the colors being off... I remember in your post you were comparing some things, but I honestly can't tell. Here's an example of the two color palettes:

The one on the left is working palette, when I made edits and switched back to index mode, the resulting palette is the one on the right. I don't know if this is what leads to errors because some of the colors expected are missing? Like I said in my previous post though, I did export the original palette and apply it to texture2.bmp it just made the colors all crazy! The limitation of 256 colors may be what creates color rendition to be off compared to other versions, but as you can see from the modified color palette, it seems that only around 82 colors are really being used. The other colors, idk what they're being used for in the other version. Though as I was just playing around, I took one of the mods I had made that had the color palette on the right, changed it back to rgb, then back to index, and it gave me the color palette on the left. The problem was it still resulted in what happened when I imported the palette, the colors were literally rendered. The reds that should have been transparent were not.
frostyfire03530 Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 Added a new texture with Ralph being happy at the end, falling in mud instead of water.
delamaize Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 First of all, I'm new, so I apoligize for any bad spelling, and quetions that have been answered already. I downloaded the the files from this dropbox, witch I got from another forum (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zceim7bmeojtp80/49ZhgLDe6w), I think it's sjaak's version, I am not sure thought, anyways, it works great, and I'm enjoying it so far but, I want to put it onto my MAME/Win XP cab. I have a problem with the controls though, I am not using a Ipac, I hard wired my controls into an old USB Keyboard, and some of the controls don't match up to my cabs configuration, the directional arrows match up, as do 1 and 2 for player 1 and player 2 and by sheer luck, X for fix matches up with the button I want to use. But my button I'd use for jump, and coi are hard wired to other keys. (Enter for Jump button, and 5 or 6 for coin). so is their a way to reprogram the controls to use diffrent buttons? I would like to reprogram to fit my machine, if it is possible. I'm not asking for someone to do it for me, I'm asking how to do it myself, and if I fail, THEN AND ONLY THEN, would I request someone to try for me. here is a few shots of my Cab, Yes it's dirty, but it's exactly how I found it. and yes at the moment, I'm using a Computer monitor, I am working on getting a real monitor for it. thanks, Delamaize!

frostyfire03530 Posted April 25, 2013 Author Posted April 25, 2013 Sorry guys, the semester started on Monday, but I haven't been able to find anyone that is familiar with openGL calls. I might need to check with the CS department, they'll have a better understanding of these things.
Bag of Magic Food Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Well, I happened to download someone's rip of the graphics from the original iPhone game from summer 2012, so I did some comparisons to some screenshots I took from the second Flash version, and there turned out to be only a few significant differences. One interesting fact is that the first version included the bush planter graphics that went missing from the arcade version and the versions of the smartphone game from November on, and in a different palette than the Flash version. With the lighter green and the duller brown, this looks a lot closer to the movie's graphics, only a little washed out. As a matter of fact, I once loaded shots of the rest of the online games' graphics into Paint.NET and tried increasing the saturation of everything by nine or ten points, and this made them look a lot more like the graphics in the movie, even including the way this makes the separate squares of colors on Ralph's shirt much harder to distinguish. (I sometimes wonder if this was done to create ambiguity about just how many colors this "8-bit" character is using.) There appears to be an additional darkening effect on the movie's screen that makes Ralph's shirt and bricks look more red than orange, but I haven't worked out quite how to achieve that yet. Another major change in the smartphone version is that the ducks have a much brighter shade of green for their faces and tails. If this represents the "new and improved" palette, then they must have changed the ducks to stand out a bit more, and this could be a worthy addition to a new mod of the game. One other thing I was lucky to catch is that in Ralph's "yell" pose, his hair is no longer the same color as the inside of his overalls, and neither are his eyebrows the same color as his lips. But only on this one sprite. All the others have the regular hair color. Seriously, I bet if you watch footage of the smartphone game closely, you'll see Ralph's hair blink to a deeper shade of red whenever he roars and shakes his fists at you. So while I look for a way to safely edit the graphics files, I have to wonder about the fact that the extra colors for powered-up Felix's cap and hammer are all separate sprite sheets stored in PNG format. Could these be used to add new graphics for Super Felix alone?
SORHP Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Ditto.... Fellas, yall need to read these forums, there's tons of info covering this game and horizontal monitors, read this thread and the thread from ridicrick's arcade release in the cabinet forums, you should find your answers there My Arcade Machines...

I'll take a look at it! I really appreciate you guys putting up with me going full retard. I know I should NEVER go full retard. I'll post my results later, I'm still doing a lot of learning.... EDIT: It won't let me view the threat yet. it says "delamaize, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons: 1.Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system? 2.If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation." Bummer.... Additionally, the version you picked up is not Sjaaks version but the actual version from Disney's cabinets. Really? is this good or bad? should I "Upgrade" to one of the other versions out there? I seem to like this one thus far, I did the sound mod that change 9 and 10 IIRC. ("I'm gonna wreck it!" "Fix it Felix!" and "I can fix it!") Regardless, I'm going to lurk a little more around here, see what I can learn. thanks! Delamaize

I've had it running vertically on my horizontal display fine since using djvjs launcher but due to the games limited zoom options we unfortunately cannot get a full size play area. That's what we are referring to. I am......Machine
frostyfire03530 Posted April 25, 2013 Author Posted April 25, 2013 @Bag of Magic Food: One thing I can say about your sprite question: We probably can't add the flower boxes. Reason being that if you check out how the windows are rendered, the windows on the first floor by the door are created with the same sprites that the rest of the windows are made with. If you did add them they would have to be smaller than they are supposed to, small enough to clear the windows at least.
SORHP Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 @ Trnzaddict, I think I read somewhere that because of the design of the game's dimensions that it wont be possible, but then again, maybe iRotate helped with it (maybe not though), sorry, I feel like I'm just talking outta my a$$, lol ... and I seem to remember that most guys playing this on a 4:3 horizontal, were playing this with a bezel displayed and making the game small?, it's a weird piece of software,Im really, really hoping for BBB's version! from what I read, it may be the best version? and from what I understand it will fix the horizontal issues My Arcade Machines...
Bag of Magic Food Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Yeah, I saw that there's a 3-pixel overlap, so I was thinking of putting the boxes down in front of the 2-pixel curb and letting one more row of pixels get shaved off somewhere. At least now I understand what a "bushes on / off" option might mean for BadBoyBill's game, since those are something that's not in every version. "Clouds on / off" probably refers to the clouds that float behind the building in only certain versions, too. But what does "stars in the sky on / off" mean? I thought stars were always present in the forest in the first story scene of the arcade version only, to show that it begins at night.
frostyfire03530 Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 Only thing I can think of for the stars is that he added them into the backdrop of the building when you play? Also just noticed in the film that the puddle Ralph drops in is the same color that it was stock, I might just omit it being brown. Next thing I'm working on sprite wise is fixing Felix's medal to be the right color, all solid yellow.
frostyfire03530 Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 Just finished updating some of the textures, check them out and let me know if something needs to be tweeked. On a side note: Thread reaches 100 posts!
