Hiya!

 

  So I decided to build a cocktail cabinet, I will document on here with pics for you guys.   My first question is 2 player mame games like pacman, or 1943.  When player 2 starts the mame auto rotate the screen to accommodate player 2?  Also how are games handled like Mario?   Thank you guys so much

that's what I have I can give you my files.

 

 

MAME:

  you need to manually load each cocktail game, 

when loaded hit TAB to bring up the config menu

- Under dip switches you need to make sure  cocktail,  (flip screen is on)

- under video you need to rotate the video

 

 

you will need to do this for each game,  or I can save you the trouble   download and extract my CFG folder into your MAME directory

You can double check to make sure I have all the cocktail games in my Cocktail XML

you can place this on your Main Menu or do what I did (what i do with all the MAME sub sets)   and place it in the Genre section.

you press G on your MAME wheel to bring up the Cocktail, Classics  wheels.

 this cabinet  has a 3rd control panel (like mine).

I only play cocktail games with the cocktail controls,  and the rest are played with the 3rd control panel.

 

if you do add a 3rd control pannel you should consider mapping your cocktail games to Player 3 and Player 4 joystick inputs in MAME.   You don't want anyone else controlling your games with your 3rd control panel while you are playing.

thanks 32assassin,  I am thinking of not using HS for the cocktail setup, but I am not 100% on that yet.  I have been looking at different frontends and am so lost.

I have to say I tried the settings and not at all what I expected.   MAME just splits the screen in 1/2 and squeshes the display to fit.   It honestly looks like trash.   Is there a way to make mame flip the screen when it's player twos turn?

nope, I missed the dip switch.   Now it looks perfect.  Silly me

So I have been playing around with MAME and notice Pac Man has the cocktail option but not the screen rotate option.   This is one of the main games I wanted.  Is there a solution?

their are multiple versions of pac man,  

 

the original puck man,  pacman midway,  pacman namco.   the config  files I gave you should have two versions of the game set up for screen rotation.

 

a regular pacman US version ( I think its the midway edition) and the speed hack.
