what2be Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Would anyone happen to know why my original Pinball Arcade (ver 1.36.10 March 2015) which ran fine, had the roms named and listed as this in the Pinball Arcade xml? (This is a "aquired" set) TAddamsFamilyTAttackFromMarsTBigShotTBlackHoleTBlackKnight2000 etc.... And when I "aquired" my new version of Pinball Arcade (1.39.7 June 2015) the roms were still named in that manner as well as the ones in my actual Steam folder, which shows a Pinball Arcade (1.41.12 Sept 2015) yet the xml in HS and the rlauncher.ahk module has been changed to this: Addams Family, The (Bally)Attack From Mars (Bally)Big Shot (Gottlieb)Black Hole (Gottlieb)Black Knight 2000 (Williams)Black Knight (Williams) etc....... Whats going on here?
Styphelus Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I'm having the same issue with Pinball FX2 and would like an answer as well.
marxkemp Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 With PA the xml and ahk has to be the same. The ahk uses a selecting mechanism to select the right table. I prefer the ones with the company name. Same standard as VP and FP. FX2 switch recently to the filenames because FX2 now supports CLI. Check the rocketlaunch website forums for more info
what2be Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 With PA the xml and ahk has to be the same. The ahk uses a selecting mechanism to select the right table. I prefer the ones with the company name. Same standard as VP and FP. FX2 switch recently to the filenames because FX2 now supports CLI. Check the rocketlaunch website forums for more info Yes, I spent considerable time last night renaming the tables in the Pinball Arcade.ahk to reflect both the hypspin Pinball Arcade.xml and verified that they match with my table names and the .csv table names, and they match 100%. I can launch from HS and the table plays with the following issues: 1) Its in windowed mode and I have to Alt-Enter to go fullscreen, this is the same behaviour whether im in Hyperspin or starting the PinballArcade11.exe directly from the folder its installed in. I tried renaming it to PinballArcade.exe as the ahk notes suggested but no difference. it doesent matter what cfg I pick in the PBALaunch.exe either, it still starts windowed. 2) I can go into controls and re configure the bumpers, etc, but as soon as I exit the game and go back in the controls are reset to default. It wont save the settings when the game exits. 3) When going to full screen it looks like crap and everthing is a bit blurry, definately not DX11 quality. I did a search and see others have/had the same problem back in June. I checked the registry and everything looks okay (only thing it shows is the save folder which is correct) I just downloaded a patch to 1.4.09 (512 MB) and will install it and see if anything changes and will post my results. UPDATE: Downloading a 1.41.12 update (7.3 Gigs) and will post my results later.
what2be Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 Well that was interesting.. I completely deleted my old install of Pinball Arcade, moved my new copy of Pinball Arcade 1.41.12 into my emulators folder (this time both exe's were in the root of Pinball Arcade and then ran PBAConfig.exe. I clicked on the DX12 tab and made sure window mode was set to fullscreen and clicked ok, it created a file called savesettings.dat. Tried running the PinballArcade11.exe and a window came up, game looked great. Hit Alt-Enter and game looked like crap again. This thing will not start in fullscreen for anything. Deleted the savesettings.dat file and tried running PinballArcade11.exe again and same thing. I give up. Im going to try it in steam and see what happens.
what2be Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 I got it working..sort of... what a pain in the ass. I knew something was up when I tried it in steam and it still didnt go fullscreen. Did a search on the steam forums and there is a bunch of people complaining about the same thing. One useful tip I found was on the Pinball Arcade wiki. I had the slow flipper problem and did as they suggested and made a profile in nvida control panel and the flippers work great now. Scroll to the bottom of the page on their site and you will see the fix. Check it out at : http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Pinball_Arcade#Video_settings Anyway, not sure what fixed it but ill list everything I did. 1) ran regedit, deleted the Pinball Arcade entry at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\PinballArcade" 2) went to my C:\Users\Arcade\My Games (replace arcade with whatever your machine name is) and deleted the Pinball Arcade folder 3) went into my steam folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\PinballArcade and deleted all 3 exe files. 4) started steam, scrolled down my list of games on the left and then clicked once to highlight "Pinball Arcade", then right clicked on it and picked "Properties" when the properties box comes up click on the tab labeled "local files" then click on "verify integrity of game cache". When it was done (about 5 minutes) it said 5 files needed to be replaced and it downloaded them. When it was done I clicked play, went to the configurator, made sure windowed mode in DX11 was set to fullscreen and then said ok. Clicked play again and picked DX11 and it started in a window but then went to full screen. It was still blurry as hell so i quit the game, tried it again and noticed it said DX9 at the bottom right corner of screen. So then I quit again, started it again using the regular pinballarcade.exe and it too said dx9, so i quit again and went in to the configurator again in steam and tried different settings but all it ever does is run in dx9 mode. So then, heres the great part, I quit steam, go to my folder where I have my "aquired" copy of pinball arcade and click on pinballarcade11.exe and it starts in full screen and shows dx11 in the bottom right corner of screen and the game looks great when I play so Im leaving it alone. Hope someone finds this useful....

Whats going on here? Pinball Arcade has no roms, the names like "TAddamsFamily" are just the CSV file names for the exe and have nothing at all to do with running the game in RL/HS and no where in the module instructions does it say to change or check them. The second naming you have there is correct, like "Addams Family, The (Bally)". The names in the module are correct and must match the database names (which they do). If you tried to change those names then it sounds like you may have caused your own problems. If you were using the newest BD and AHK then you shouldn't have renamed anything at all or renamed anything to match the CSV files. To get the DX11 version to work right in RocketLauncher/Hyperspin then you need to do what the module notes say. Rename PinballArcade.exe to PinballArcadeDX9.exe. Then rename PinballArcade11.exe to PinballArcade.exe. Everytime the game updates or you update it yourself you need to rename them again. The acquired versions can be screwy though. If you're setting up a legit version then the module notes work perfectly. The Alt F4 glitch is something some people have with certain video cards it seems Here's the tutorial if it helps. Most of this in the module instrcuctions: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/10656-quick-tutorial-for-setting-up-pinball-arcade/
what2be Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 thx, it works like a charm, other than the game audit fails in rlui, but thats no big deal i guess.

I believe they show red in a game audit because there are no roms so there is nothing to match the database to, which is what makes them green.
