atwon Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Hi all I've been following Simply Austins great you tube guides on Retroarch with complete success. However I just hit a bump with configuring controls with N64. Using Mario Kart 64 as my test game all buttons work, D-Pad works on the selection screen but when the game starts I can't control the character. I'm guessing this is because the game used to use the analog stick for this. I've configured all my other systems by opening up the .CFG file and making keyboard changes manually but I don't see the option for D-Pad and Analog in the N64.CFG. Is there a way to combine the directions for both in the UP,DOWN,LEFT,RIGHT mapping? This computer is going into a two player cabinet and am just wondering what I've missed or how others set this system up in Retroarch to run in a cab. Thanks in advance for any help!
DOYOUEVENFADC Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 I have also had this issue I couldn't play 007 golden eye as the directional pad moves all over. I used bind all. Are you using a 360 pad? Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Change the input device to keyboard. I think it may be core settings off top of head? Simply Austin's YouTube
duff.the.dude Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 In the .cfg you'll want to set these: input_player1_l_x_plus = "l" input_player1_l_x_minus = "j" input_player1_l_y_plus = "k" input_player1_l_y_minus = "i" The i,j,k,l are just what I use as an example. Not sure if you can set the same as up, down etc. or if setting input_player1_analog_dpad_mode would help. But they often serve different purposes so best to keep them separate. BTW for right analog I use h,b,n,m.
atwon Posted September 21, 2015 Author Posted September 21, 2015 Sorry for the late reply guys, was away over the weekend... DOYOUEVENFADC: No not using a 360 pad on this one, configuring this to keyboard to run through an IPAC2 on my next cab.. For some reason when I 'bind all' I loose my controls in Retroarch's menu so I'm unable to save config and exit.. I'm sure I'm missing something simple there? SIMLPYAUSTIN: A massive thank you for all the tutorials, having a blast following your guides whilst I build my 2nd project..! duff.the.dude: Legend! Thank you, editing the config files per system seems to be the only way I can map my buttons to the keyboard and this worked perfectly. Both my D-pad and analog stick are now assigned to up,down left,right..! Cheers, atwon
JayC Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Yah...you can't setup keyboard keyes from RA interface. That has never been possible. You always have to do it in the ini.
Awakened Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Yah...you can't setup keyboard keyes from RA interface. That has never been possible. You always have to do it in the ini. It's been possible to do for quite awhile now by setting the Bind Mode to RetroKeyboard in Input settings.
