Hey All

Ok so I had to re obtain some of my Sega CD titles... most are .bin. however some are not playing the music? I noticed some games are in bin format when I download them, however others are ISO/with MP3. I am assuming I need the mp3 for music to work? or are the songs in side the bin? I am very confused and I think I have messed up my sega cd collection.  Can anyone advise me the proper way to rename the games to work with HS and work with full sound support please. I am getting a hyperspin ready set now however they are .7z and I prefer it to be unzipped, but I know when I unzipped last time there were files within each game that tried to overwrite others.

thanks

Hi demonseed, from what I know, the best Sega CD and other systems dumps never are Iso+music tracks, these ones aren't "pure" dumps if you will, they used to be this way because mp3 are 10x or more smaller than Wav files, and the only reason was to save space and easily share when internet wasn't as fast as nowadays, the "good" dumps usually comes with Bin+Cue or other format, rarely has over 2 files, and when one game like PS1 CDs has multi tracks and they come with a main Bin (the game itself) and other bins that are, actually music tracks, but note, no WAV or MP3, it's just a side note, now answering your question.

Yeah, you need the Iso or the main image + music tracks, some emulators will run Mp3 extra tracks but I think most of them will run WAV tracks, picodrive for PSP, for example runs mp3 extra tracks, which is good, because you save much more space in the SD card.

I think Retroarch will only play Sega CD fine with Bin+Cue or Iso+WAV, I recommend you never use Iso+tracks for any CD systems.

Well

I re downloaded the set and they are .7z. Inside the .7z are mainly .img/.ccd/.sub.. what can play those? I tried Gens, Fusion and retroarch..  Is there a way to convert? but if I convert them do I convert all files? as most games have the img, ccd,and sub. I converted the img of sonic cd from IMG to Bin/cue but there is no music, in either retroarch or fusion.

this is why you should first see what type of format your emulator of choice needs.

retroarch or MESS can't use the img,  ccd files.   if you use them with fusion,  you have to use Daemon tools.

go and download the darkwater set,  they are in bin, cue format,   their was (or is) a Hyperspin Ready set based on the darkwater set on a private tracker.

this set will work with MESS and Retroarch  without the need of Daemon tools  (load the bin directly).
