OneBadVeggie Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I have found some documentation, that explains "why" you have to take certain steps (Finding hash files, etc) but nothing that's really a guide on how to get it all up and running. To simplify things, I'll say I'm just trying to get Atari 5200 working, I have the bios, and I have the hash file for MESS. Any one willing to walk me through it will totally get thanked.

I'm interested as well. I use RetroArch for many systems but I can't get the MESS core to work.
phulshof Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I simply use MAME directly without RetroArch. I'm still not clear on what RetroArch adds to the fun to be honest. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
phulshof Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I actually run NES, SNES, and Genesis using MAME as well. I only use other emulators if MAME drops the ball, like e.g. N64. My computer simply is not fast enough to run N64 through MAME. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
thcdgaf Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Im working on amstrad cpc right now through mess core or mame core future testing i had 5200 working for retroarch through mess core but its old core i bet ill keep everyone posted
brudibru Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I think that in the Rocket launch modules some system are available for RetroArch and not Mame/Mess despite the fact RA use the MESS core for them (Thomson MO5/TO7 for example). I don't know if it's because some system are not playable with MAME/MESS anymore but are still part of the RA module by mistake (...and yes I know that this question should be asked in the RL forums directly). That explains the main reason why I am trying to use RA instead of MAME/MESS sometimes (but in the end it fails miserably as the games are not starting and I only get the RA main menu).

Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk I would miss the crt-easymode-halation if I went back to stand alone MAME. It's the only CRT shader I use now. It manages to have a nice Lottes shadow mask without killing brightness and is relatively light on resources. And it has even scanlines at 1080p. But CRT shaders don't rotate with vertical games because of how the core outputs video. So they don't look that great on those games unless you leave them unrotated and rotate your monitor instead

thcdgaf Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I get Amstrad CPC to initialize but closes retroarch afterwards
