So I have three desktops in my house i want to transfer hyperspin to my livingroom machine (because streaming isn't really working for me) should i just copy the drive my hyperspin lives on (which is on its own drive F: i think) onto another seperate drive on the other machine with the same letter?

Or sould i get some cloning software? I know some configuring and bits will need doing but whats the safest painfree way to copy hyperspin?

Thanks

Just drag and drop your current HS setup onto another drive and make sure it has the same drive letter in the other puter. Should work like a charm but like you said you might have to do some configuring after the copy to get everything running smoothly.

It really is... I've done it several times. Like @yeuxkes mentioned, try and have the path be consistent. ex: c:\hyperspin (old machine) -> c:\hyperspin (new machine). If it's the same path it'll just work. Otherwise you'll have to change a couple of config files, but that's no big deal either.

I have my hyperspin setup like this... hyperspin/RL and my emulators are on my C: drive and I have all my roms and videos on a external drive..... I'm going to merge them all on the external drive because it will be easier to copy it to other systems if needed. the only drama I see is changing all the emulator locations in RL and changing BIOS   setting for certain emulators... but basically just a copy/move thing with hyperspin but best believe it's not that simple because a lot of emulators have to be configured again if their paths are pointing to another drive (BIOS, etc)

Has anyone had any success with a program called syncback?  Seems like it would be nice to have once you move your hyperspin folder over, and say, make changes to one computer and want it to transfer over to the other one during a sync.

if you have pc games on your wheel, you might have to install each dependency corresponding to the game your playing, other than that, I have a master hyperspin

on a portable HD, than can run off a computer, and have installed it to a computer just by dragging and dropping, and renaming the drive letter, and everything worked like a charm!!

my mistake was when I first started using hyperspin I didn't know I was going to get it up and running that fast (getting all the videos, artwork, etc) so originally I just had my emulators in a folder on my desktop and my roms on a external usb and hyperspin at C:\Hyperspin... I never thought about moving everything into the hyperspin folder to make life easier.. but now I see it just works out better to have the Emulators setup in the Hyperspin folder so when it's time to move stuff to another drive or system things move more smoothly (especially for a C:\ to C:\ system transfer).

With Hyperspin... having it on a USB portable seems like the best bet because you can just plug it up to whatever system (as long as that system has everything needed to run each emulator) and get things running. I still wonder about speed issues... would prefer to have it on a SSD drive.

I don't have speed Issues, I have ran it off of USB 2.0, and ran games like Metal Gear : Ground Zeros with no lag,  I did however worry about having just one portable copy of Hyperspin, so I bought an internal sata HD to copy my Hyperspin setup, and name the drive to what my portable was named, and I had no issues, that way I can put the portable up somewhere safe just incase something happens to either copy!      it's just a real good idea to backup!
