Zacb01
I have an Arcade cabinet that was built by someone other than myself and I need some assistance and direction from where to proceed with how to use certain functions of the machine. First let me explain what type of software and hardware that was installed originally and what I have done that has me at a loss. I looked inside the cabinet and found a dell 8200 inside with 1gb of RAM, a 20gb HDD w/ WinXp 32bit OS, and a 4gb flash drive that contained Mame, Blue OS, X arcade etc.. I immediately decided to upgrade the cabinet with something a little better but not extremely. I had a dell Vostro 410 sitting around so I gutted in and put it in place of the dell 8200. The Vostro has a 250gb HDD w/ WinXp 32bit OS, 4gb of RAM, and a Nvidia geoforce 8600 gt. I have very little experience with Arcade cabinets and the software involved. I have done a little research but I am a little frustrated. I want to run Hyperspin w/ multiple emulators and roms that use the Arcade controls that are installed in the cab. The controls are wired to a male end of a ps2 port. I purchased a usb to ps2 adapter but I am at a loss as to what software to use to integrate the controls to work with all emulators. I don't know if that is a stretch b/c I know that configuring emulators can a pain in of itself. I also want to use something like instantsheller to completely hide XP as was on the previous cab. Can someone shed some light on my situation?
Spawk
Welcome to the forum. Without ever setting up HyperSpin before, you are bound to run into several problems. Mostly because you are not just dealing with HyperSpin but rather a collection of software working together to give you the final experience. There are a lot of people here that will be willing to help though. Was it working correctly with old PC? If yes, then merely copying all the data from the 20gb drive to the new 250gb drive should work as long as the paths are all the same. Including the 4gb flash drive. If not, then I highly suggest doing a fresh install of HyperSpin 1.4 and RocketLauncher... learning as you go so you will have a better understanding of how to fix and/or update as needed. The tutorial section has all the info needed for this. Personally i cannot help with the cabinet controls as i just use a 360 controller from my household PC. It is completely navigatable without the need to ever push a keyboard button though. Good luck. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

I followed this tutorial - - and stopped after running the startup script mentioned in the video due to the arcade controls only allowing the function of one of the buttons. I will check the tutorial section and follow a more up to date one and see if that helps.
progets
I agree with Jeremy, you need to know the hardware you have. Figure out what your encoder is. This should be where all the button and stick wires connect and has the PS2 output. InstantSheller is great but can be a challenge if not properly understood. I think you should have a separate topic for InstantSheller. I use it with a modified Windows setup so I can get a simultaneous full desktop Windows session as another user on another computer using Remote Desktop to make changes. It can make a cabinet great but it can break a whole setup if done on a whim. BTW - The video suggestion is also a good idea but for different reasons. Spawk
Oh ok, it wasn't HS before. Cool... without watching that video, here are a couple of points: 1. Hyperlaunch is now basically defuct (no longer being updated) and RocketLauncher is it's natural successor. It has features HL does not. 2. Controls can be troublesome to be honest, at least in the sense of having a seemless experience without ever touching a keyboard sort of thing. I don't use any startup script myself, I opted to have "joytokey" handle all the navigation stuff. There are other options... scripts/keymappers as well and everyone seems to have there own preference here. SimplyAustin is the man though and you can't go wrong with his videos. That one has been updated though, check out his newer one.
progets
Spawk, I think everyone will agree with you on the videos but to give any advice on the control setup will depend on the encoder.
Metalzoic
Like the others said. Start with your encoder, then follow Spawks advice in the first post. Once you know how your Joysticks are set up and wired you can start to build up both HyperSpin & RocketLauncher from scratch. Probably keeping just your existing roms (and updating them if needed) and maybe some of the emulators (if they are needed and not out of date.)
