Deezdrama
I setup a PC games wheel on my hyperspin build. Edited my database to my list of games, had them all setup and running great.... Moved the HDD to my arcade cab which is running on a same spec'd machine as the one I compiled the HDD on, same OS (win 7 64).... After getting the HDD in my arcade cab, almost half of my PC games - fist puncher, jamestown, and several other gog games wont launch. I just get a "gamename failed to launch" system message. Ive tried going into properties and setting to run as admin and to run in windows compatability mode but they still fail to load. Any ways to fix this or ideas why they wont load on a almost identical PC as what they were setup on?
Deezdrama
Crap.... I installed them to my HS hdd on my main pc. Once everything was working and setup in RL/HS I made a backup of the drive and moved one to my cab, then cleaned up all the files on my main pc that were a mess from compiling the drive. I dont have the install files, am I out of luck or is there anyway to get the needed files off my main pc,and/or edit registry?
Spawk
I feel for you man! Some games will definitely be missing registry entries. You can try to compare registries but it's really ill advised. One wrong entry can really mess your system up. Your best bet will probably be to bite the bullet and reDL those and re-install. Undertow76
I have ran across this, and it has happened to me, depending on how many PC games that you have, you will have to go in each game folder on what your setting it up on, and make sure they launch manually (launch it by the .exe), if it doesn't launch, there is usually a folder in the game folder called (dependencies) wich have the file you need to install. If it still doesn't work, you may have to go in and right click on the main .exe , click properties, click the compatibility tab, tick the run as admin, and tick disable display scaling. click apply and ok. Also some games have to be run once, and you map it out to the controller, set the video, etc. so it will save the reg entries, and files on the machine you have it on. Even if it's on a portable HDD, it will still make those files on the pc your running it on. I would also check your path settings in Rocket/Hyperlaunch, and confirm they are the same (C:/HyperSpin/Roms) etc. I found out the hard way, I got 120 more PC games to map out on mine, hope this helps! Deezdrama
When I first ran into this ....first thing I tried was reinstalling/repairing all .nets (x32 and 64) and dx's, and all the other pre-req software..... no go. Ive also tried running the exe's and giving them admin and compatability modes. I have not tried installing items in the dependencies folders in the games root. Ill give that a try... would be awesome if the games im having problems with all have a dependencies folder and could get them running. thanks guys

damageinc86
yeah, always keep installs! That's why I hate the push for installs that download stuff in order to work. Standalone installers is the way to go for preserving your stuff.
