need help updating rom set from 165 to 169

I cant seem to get clr mame pro to work properly, by following the instructions.... I don't have a dat file or know where to get it so I followed what it said from setting one up by selecting the mame.exe to create one, then it tells you to hit update and the program gives me a error and doesn't move from 0%....any help would be appreciated

Is your 165 torrent-zipped and/or did you get it from from Pleasure Dome?

If so simply download the 169 from PD over your 165, it will check for what you already have and only download the parts you need.

my rom set is zip format but I just would like to use a program like clr mame pro to update to 169 but I need a dat file for 169 and don't know where to get it

Not I said "torrent-zipped" & PleasureDome. I've never updated using Clr Mame Pro, never bothered with DAT.

I've always done it the easy way I just mentioned.

I've always done it this way with the rom set and the CHD's. Never had an issue.

take the advice you where just given 

 

your alternative  you have to download the

 

165 to 166 update pack

166 to 167 update pack

167 to 168 update pack

168 to 169 update pack

 

that is four different torrents in order to upgrade from 165 all the way to 169
