Question about MAME and MESS

I am working on building a new arcade setup.  I am guessing for MAME I should use MAMEUIFX 0.170.  So what about MESS games?  I read that MAME and MESS joined but I can seem to get MESS games to load.  I am not sure what I need to do.  Or should I just use a standalone version of MESS?

You can use either to be honest mate.  MAME or a version of MESS.  It is true that MAME now includes both of these.  However you will need all the Bios Roms for all of those systems current to the version of MAME that you have (Software Bios Files).  Anything that is labeled Software when downloading roms for these are talking about the MESS side of it all.

However, for me MESS has not undergone any ground breaking achievements worthy of me to download the new version and set it up.  I also like to keep my Arcade and Systems to be in dif emulators for tweaking... just my personal pref.  With this in mind I am still using and am very much liking the older version of original MESS.  Here is a guide with everything you need if you wanted to do the same route... if not just follow the information up there ^^^

If you have any issues... as always, gimmie a shout :D

Having some issues with MESS.  With my I-Pac 2 testing Atari 2600 Space Invaders,  The player one binds are select=5 and start=1.  It doesn't start game.  Need to guess Player 2 start=2

Do those buttons match to how you have your iPac programmed?

MESS bios roms are now included in the MAME Rom torrents as well. I strip out only the MESS roms from it if interested. Have a peek at my signature.
