InsaneFurball Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Hey all. Just downloaded around 4000 video snaps from progettosnaps.net all of which are mp4. I have added them to the correct directory for HS but when I load it up I hear the audio from the files but I don't see the video? They play fine from the desktop. I've installed some mp4 codec packs as well as vlc player, and I have also turned off flash hardware acceleration without any joy. Running an nvidia 480GTX by the way. Any help please?
gigapig Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 You have a theme for these videos to play in? Either a system default or per game? Also check the box in HyperHQ "Reload Backgrounds".
InsaneFurball Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 Yeah there's a default theme, no per game themes. The default 88Games video or whatever it was played fine. Then I dropped in all the others into that folder (over wrote the original 88Games) and none of them will play the video, just the audio. I keep thinking its a codec issue but I dunno. By the way, enabling Reload Backgrounds didn't help and it also made HS freeze.
SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Hmmm so they are mp4, yet do not play? Do they play outside of HyperSpin? Try another theme. I had a Wii theme that did the same thing a while back, was as if it had a layer blocking my video. I think it was something to do with the Aspect Simply Austin's YouTube
InsaneFurball Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 Well funny you should mention it, cause its the Arcade Classics theme from your videos. And yes they do play outside of HS, which is what is annoying me.
SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Try with a standard theme from the Download section. The snap downloads you are using have come from a site not normally used. They may be slightly dif than normal ratios or format making them less default in their configuration. Or in laymans terms... The videos may be a little fucked up than normal and not want to play in some themes Simply Austin's YouTube
InsaneFurball Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 Im leaning towards the issue being the videos themselves. As I mentioned, 88Games' video ran fine. Plus as a bit of a test I did convert one of the videos I have to FLV and although the video was garbled (in and out of HS) it did actually display.
InsaneFurball Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 I just did some more googling, specifically about these snaps and apparently they are encoded with some wanky Planar 4:4:4 YUV encoding which HS doesn't agree with. Oh well, back to square one lol,
SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 hehe jeeeeeez... somone must have had a bad day to take all those snaps and have them non compatible with one of the leading Front Ends If you are after snaps for free, the best place is obviously Emumovies. I understand that yes it can cost money. However Circo being the legend he is has boosted hid daily download limit to 1 gb. However if you get involved (not spam) in the forums he raises that to 1.5 gb (20 posts I believe). Now for most systems that would cever a system a day, if not more. However I know how big the MAME set is. Of course, there are other routes, places to go and options out there. Just be careful to keep to the mp4 set... not the old FLV Simply Austin's YouTube
InsaneFurball Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 Well i just burnt 9gb on 4000 snaps just for MAME. Thankfully i worked out a way to download them all at once, cause they are all single links. But yeah, highly annoying. Its great that somebody put all those snaps out there, but they could have bloody tested them first lol.
Metalzoic Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 video snaps from progettosnaps.net Note to self: Never get video snaps from a place that sounds like disgusting soup.
InsaneFurball Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 lol. In fairness the guy has put a lot of work into getting those snaps up and they do work, it's just that HS doesn't like the encoding. Luckily, somebody in the chat suggested a program called vidCoder. So i queued all the videos up and let the program re-encode them during the night and now they all work in HS fine.
Artie Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Hi, Im having the same problem with the snapshots. Ive tried encoding them but they still wont play, do you remember what settings you used in vidcoder?
InsaneFurball Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 Just the standard h.264 i think it is. Try one till you get the encoding right for what HS/HL wants then do the rest.
robot55 Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Hi - I have the same problem: I downloaded the videops from EmuMovies (using DSU with paid account - they play fine outside of HS (win media player) - but in HS you just hear audio and the video is just garbled pixelated noise...some notes: 0. Using latest 1.33 HS ver. on win7 64b / Intel NUC setup 1. yes, I tried setting "reload backgrounds" - doesn't do anything 2. Yes, my v. drivers are up to date (intel graphics on built in card in Intel NUC) 3. Yes, I have tried several themes, really want to use the default one 4. Note - before I added & configured my wheels - I did see the intro video for mame (showing street fighter footage at beginning I believe) just fine.... 5. Yes, I have carefully read prev. posts on the subj, here and anywhere else I could find - no ones seems to have a real evidence based answer - just guess work - install klite, downgrade to old media player, install c++ redist, install .net, etc. etc - no one offers a technical explanation - I have tried all of these voodoo advice and guess what? none of it worked. Since these videos worked pretty much everywhere else (my arcade win7 machine, my macbook, a linux RasbPi, chromecast and iphone- I'm pretty sure this is a HS problem. Also, if you do some google searches - you will find it's a common problem, happens to quite many people.Any thought of researching it thoroughly and offer a solution
Avar Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 After adding your wheels could you no longer see the MAME intro video?Or is it always good? Can you try HS 1.4 and see if it fixes it? I'll look into a more technical solution beyond what you've covered but that might be a quick fix in the meantime.
Avar Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Any thought of researching it thoroughly and offer a solutionJust hopping onto a plane so I haven't had time to pore over this as much as I'd like but have you tried this:Disable hardware acceleration: - Open web browser - Go to youtube - Click on any video - When the video plays, quick as you can right-click anywhere in the video, select Settings - Uncheck "Enable hardware acceleration" Here's the link to where I found this since the HS thread on the subject appears to be gone: http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/please-help-mp4-video-preview-with-visual-disturbance.125956/
Circo Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 This is an issue that's fixed with 1.4 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ___________________________________ HyperSpin Website Admin Team Also Visit EmuMovies.com
robot55 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I had same problem and took me a long while to find there's actually a solution for this (even with 1.33).I am using windows 7 64b - but this should work since XP and onward.1) This seems to be an intel graphics card related issue (if tis happens to you on nvidia, ati, or some other card - this solution might not be for you) 2) download /run internet explore, regardless of what browser you actually use on your Arcade PC (for me it's Chrome and I actually had to install IE as I opted not to have it on my initial windoows setup). Note: yes, it has to be IE, even if you choose not to use it afterwards. 3) once IE is installed, find a web-page with a flash running on it. you can google "test adobe flash" and you will find some options in the first results. 4) right click the flash (banner / video / whatever) - and click "settings...", afterwords, un-check "enable hardware acceleration" checkbox. 5) That's it - all your Hyperspin videos will play nicely now! some notes (I wish I had these when I was troubleshooting it): 1) yes - it's a FLASH issue. Even though Video snaps are now all MP4, Hyperspin (I guess) is still using some Flash wrapper to play them - so yes, even if your video snaps are MP4 - this solution is still relevant for you and will work 2)Even though you can do that uncheck hardware acceleration on Chrome and Firefox (maybe even opera) - this will only work wen done in IE. There are some reports that on windows 8 and onward you can do it in Firefox as well - but just to be safe - do it on IE. The rason for this seems to be that HyperSpin uses some sort of windows "web view" to run vids, which utilizes whatever settings your IE has, ignoring other browsers 3) After you verify solution worked - you can uinstall IE if you wish - the settings should remain 4) there's no reason to set IE as default browser or anything like that - you only need it in order to reach the "flash settings" I hope this helps - took me a week to find the solution for this - I followed posts that suggested installing Codec Packs, legacy drivers and other ideas that didn't work. cheers, Robot55
