ASIO MAME guide

Since you seem to know everything about emulation you should know that HS isn't an emulator. From the first video you posted here on the HLSL thread where you spent the first 3-4 minutes just bashing everyone who made HLSL settings, calling people stupid, and saying they wasted your time I tagged you as a condescending, pretentious tool. With each post you make you further confirm my suspicions.

Oh, and as far as a workaround (this is not ideal at all due to the time it takes but works) you could restart the audio service on exit of ASIO Mame.

You should know that people type typos on forums sometimes. I obviously meant "frontend" given that one of the next sentences was "It's really time for this frontend to get with..."

But let's ignore that. Let's derail the point by focusing on a typo when you know exactly what I meant. It's one thing to complain about people spreading misinformation and misleading people. It's another thing to be so petty and desperate that you have to complain about obvious typos when you know exactly what was intended. Pathetic.

I'm tagging you as a disingenuous weirdo.

It is simple. Simply set a very little bit of code to be executed on the closing of MAME which resets the windows audio service and then reenables it............... dun dun dun, in bulbousbeards face!

Great solution. Now you only have to deal with the other problem: GroovyMAME crashing randomly with multithreading turned on. Good job (geezus).

Not only is resetting the audio service a horrible hack (and slow), you realize that that is only PART of the problem, right?

GroovyMAME WILL randomly crash with multithreading enabled with Hyperspin.

Stability. Yeah! Stability.

You can't just use some shitty AHK hack, try it for 2 seconds, and tell me it works reliably.

Dumb kids.

Not a horrible hack, makes it work unlike which you cried many times it couldn't, so that proves you wrong. Slow? Takes a whole 3 seconds, if that is slow to you then I am sorry you must live life in the fast lane.

Used it and no performance issues, no crashes, nothing wrong at all.

So yeah, you can go ahead and apologize to all the people you threw a tantrum at just cuz you thought something couldn't be done and are now proven wrong.

Even if it did that... Which it doesn't for me. That would be a groovy mame problem, not HS and you should take it up with its author.

Adding disgusting hacks is not "working."

Why doesn't MALA need to restart the audio service?

Why doesn't Big Blue need to restart the audio service?

Here's your answer:

They work™.

Hyperspin doesn't. Hyperspin needs external hacks because it does not work.

If Hyperspin worked, why do you need to RAPE your system every time you return from a game?

It isn't a GroovyMAME problem. GroovyMAME works fine with good frontends.

Works for me. Someone is a sour puss that he was proven wrong

You have so much hate and discontent for HS. Why the even come on the forum to make a post about this program you think won't work with what you consider a shit program? In not one but even multiple threads.

GroovyMAME guy hacks up code to make this asio work in Mame.... Praises

Hyperspin guy runs two lines of code to make audio work fine in HS with asio mame...... Most shitty work around ever

ASIO in GroovyMAME isn't a hack. Resetting the audio service for no good reason because your frontend is a piece of shit is a hack.

Posted

Yeah, the person who says that RESETTING THE AUDIO SERVICE isn't a gross hack is telling us that it's "working fine."

That doesn't sound shady at all.

Sounds like success to me!

Can't believe you are into the emulation scene. The gross amount of hacks and workarounds used in this environment must make your stomach churn.

The hipster obviously isn't interested in any sort of work around.. He want to express his feelings about an fe. In his opinion hyperspin sucks hairy cheese covered monkey balls because his epic obscure coffee flavoured plug in for JazzyMame isn't working straight out of the box.

I say thank you dude..For sharing. Either you formulate a question you want answered. Or you could always switch to mala.

Damn.  Dude, you've obviously got a lotta pent up anger.  Who are you so angry with?

There are a lot of good, smart people in these forums who have dedicated countless hours helping people (like myself) and have contributed to the HS community.  They don't deserve to be yelled at.  What are you, 12?

It's one thing to correct someone or disagree, but it's another thing to bash people and name call.  Extremely disrespectful.  I'd be surprised if you don't get booted from the site.  If I were in charge, you'd be getting tossed unless you appologize.

This is simply a public service announcement to use a good frontend if you actually want to play games in MAME as well as possible. It's not a question.

Enjoy your coffee

People who are that serious about Mame emulation have already known for a while that HS is not the ideal fe. My guess is you come here to bash HS and casually mention Big Blue (which for everyone at home, he apparently developed) in hopes of trying to migrate people to your fe or just gloat about how yours supports ASIO Mame and HS doesn't.

Yes I'm sure. That's why I specifically mentioned that MALA also works fine. At least you admit that Hyperspin sucks for MAME. I've got to respect that. Credit where credit is due.

For what it's worth, I'm the one being insulted here more than anyone else.

Stop spreading misinformation. It's confirmed to not work with Hyperspin.

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=142143.0

"Known problems:

Games running at very inconsistent speeds will probably sound worse than with the other APIs. HyperSpin with ASIO4ALL+Realtek does not work properly."

99% of people doing this are going to have onboard Realtek. It doesn't work with Hyperspin with the MOST COMMON sound configuration.

And if you're going to continue to lie, post a video of yourself launching ASIO MAME in Hyperspin, quitting the game, and still having sound in Hyperspin on a computer with Realtek sound. And no, don't try to launch the normal MAME and pass it off as using ASIO, weirdo.

(as if that'll ever happen)

God, I hate misinformation spreading losers. Emulation is already full of confusion, and then we have these jackballs who have no clue yet pretend they know what they're doing making everything even worse.

Also, heads-up: This guy, Austin?  The guy you attacked?  He is a great guy.  And knowledgable.  And he has helped countless people online with video tutorials, forum posts, messages and emails.

Who are you to walk in here with 40 posts and bash anyone, much less Austin???  Eat a dick.

Post counts on forums don't mean you know your ass from a hole in the ground. I could give you credentials that show I'm more qualified than anyone else on this forum to talk about this issue, but I don't need to, because all I'm doing is stating facts.

Well you have yourself to blame for that because you are the one who started the name calling and insults. You can't play the victim now, you reap what you sow.

He's a hipster troll. Stop feeding him.

tried it on a few other frontends and seems to have various issues from major audio lag to no sound at all.

This isn't a defense for HS. Just saying, this is bleeding edge solution that is bound to have issues with other FE's.
