So I just built a PC to run an arcade emulator.  I have hyperspin working and running mame.  Things seem to be running fine and I can play pretty much everything.  However when playing the mortal combats and streetfighter games for instance they look real grainy.  Now I'm not sure if maybe a better graphics card would help or if I just don't remember how they actually looked back in the day since I'm use to how nice graphics are these days.

The specs on my pc are intel i5 2500cpu,  16gigs ram, and EVGA Gforce GT 610 directX 12 1gb 64-bit pcaExpress.  I know the GPU isn't the greatest but figured it should be ok for this type of thing.  Should I think about an upgrade?  It's an HP small factor PC so i'm not sure what options I would have and don't want to spend money if I don't have to.  mostly plan to play the old classics but would like games like Golden T, Mortal combat etc to look as close to what they did when we played them in the arcade as kids.

Thanks in advance.

IMO that card is fine for mame. I don't think mame relies on gpu as much as other emus do.

You may want to look into hlsl or glsl to make it look more like it used to if you're using a non-crt monitor.

yea right now just an older led monitor.  when I build the cabinet I plan to use an regular 27 inch LCD TV. I'll look into that hlsl and glsl.  Thanks for the tip!

I did plan to setup NES, and maybe a few other Nintendo systems but the older ones.  Also I want to setup the Atari systems.  I'm not sure what emulators to go with on those.  Iv'e heard RetroArch for Nintendo?  Will I still be good on the video card?  I won't be trying to paly xbox or anything. This is just for fun nostalgia stuff really.  I have computers that can play the good games.
