New Pinball Build - Add Toys?

I purchased a virtual pinball cabinet. If I can just say, the builder "Monster Arcades" has been great to work with and the machine looks awesome. A link of the 42/27/DMD is here ---> https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=670715919608999&set=vb.135734729847&type=3&theater

I discussed adding more features with MA and they are rightfully wary that more toys means more stuff that can break. I'm not an expert, and I do want to be cautious of that. With that said, are there any "toys" (LED Wiz, shaker motors, solonoids, etc.) that anyone would recommend I integrate into the machine? It would unfortunately need to be something that would not be too difficult to do (since I don't have a lot of time to commit to it).

Given the fact that you are having it built, i take it that costs are not important. I would go for a "fully loaded" machine, since the toys give a lot of added realism to the simulation. Using zebulons expensive but awesome boards, most toys are relatively plug and play hardwarewise. Adding all these toys does complicate things sofware-wise: configuring everything, and trouble-shooting is going to be a HUGE timesink.

Also: see if you can get a recessed playfield (this adds a sense of depth to the playfield, esp. with ledwiz flashers under the glass)

I think this is definitely a case of YMMV. I found installing and configuring the front end and all of the tables (HP, FP & VP) a lot harder than getting the toys working was. I spent a lot more time getting all of that other stuff sorted out. For me, the toys were relatively simple in comparison.

EDIT: And to answer the OP's question; I would recommend all of the toys, BUT I think contactors and flashers at a minimum. You'll definitely get the most consistent use out of those two items.

Thanks. I'll look into the contactors. Regarding the lights I don't really have anywhere to put them due to the design of my cabinet (not in original video was my JLA pinball topper). I may never change it but want to know what it would take and what I'm missing. :)

Bump...I've been playing some tables on the machine and it is the real deal. It's so realistic. Visual/Future pinball is sick! Awesome stuff. Having fun in my house tonight. :)

My personal and recently updated ledwiz config is

1 start button

1 exit button

1 extra ball

10 contactors

5x2 rgb leds

4 strobes in parallel

1 gear

1 knocker

1 shaker

1 fan on top of backbox

2 beacons

4 rgb flippers in parallel

and the undercab rgb ledstrip

there's no real limit, the more the better :top:

Here's some exclusive:

The anticipated and in test new framework (in development in VPUniverse), that will replace ledcontrol.vbs in mid term allows you to use more than one ledwiz, up to 16 in fact :D

We have defined in the dev ledwiz configtool the ability to use up to 6 ledwiz with the website configurations, and I have two ledwiz installed on my cab.

One use the virtual output kit and the second one is connected to a bare bones booster from Zeb too.

This is just one of the advantages of the new framework, we will announce the tool for beta newt month or in two months if we feel ready, new configurations for all the tables are in preparation for the new possibilities of this new tool ;)

A big fundamental difference with the current configuration available, we have defined the 10 contactor setup according to this schema attached, there was a hole between the bumper contactors and the slingshots, it is much more according to the reality like this.

And all tables will have their 8 and 10 contactor setup :)

I had read up a little on the DOF but wasn't sure how far along it was. It's AWESOME knowing its only around the corner.

Im also glad to hear I wouldn't need much more to get extra toys. Another LEDwiz and bare bones booster.

I definitely want to add some extras to my pin, starting with contractors (7). I also want to add a shaker/gear motor and nudging.

Im a little lost on what products to purchase. Ive read what I found on the forum, so I think I may need zebulons card, shaker/gear mirror, some kind of power supply, and an led wiz. Is that right? What else would I need? Maybe I'll call zeb after he's returned from Goin' Fishin. :)

I'm a pretty smart guy but this stuff is outside of my practice area.

Yeah we need to tell Zeb that when he's fishin we still might wanna look at the photos of the products. It doesn't appear you can look at the products on his page while he's gone. What you can do is goto the Downloads page and look at the instructions to get an idea about the boards and the toys that can attached to the boards.

I'm just starting to wire up all my toys. I can tell you what I've got so far.

Zeb's board set: Inductor and PWM boards that piggyback (comes with a mounting plate)

Zeb's gear and shaker assembly

Zeb's light bar <- I had him custom make mine to only be 2" tall because I wanted my playfield as close to the glass as possible for a better viewing angle

LedWiz: This will mount on the mounting plate that came with Zeb's boardset.

Contactors: for force feedback of flippers and bumpers...probably can use up to 7

Replay Knocker

You can also wire up any front panel button lights and coin door items to Zeb's boards as well.
