Permanantly enabling cheats in mame on games?

I think even with running cheat 1 in your .ini or -cheat you still have to activate the ones you want. If it doesn't save on exit what you want enabled then you might need to enable what you want then create a savestate.

I'm unsure if savestate/load a state will get the results you want however.

A while back, I wanted Jr. Pacman to be FAST but I could only enable that in the cheat menu. It would lose it's settings when you exited the game. However, in the latest version of MAME, they now have jrpacmanf which is similar to mspacmanf where it's the FAST version. Lucky!

So to answer your question, no there isn't a way to have the cheat functions saved. You have to enable it each and every time.

What if you enable the cheat then set a save state, then launch the game straight into that savestate?

that's interesting. would have to check that.

but what would happen if u turned cheats off in mame.ini file between loading the save states. I couldn't see save state changing the mame.ini file when loaded.

Hmm. I think I tried the save state thingy and it didn't work.

But how about this. What about an AHK script that automatically presses, "Tab", "Cheats" and then selects the item you want? Couldn't RocketLauncher.0 theoretically do this with a script for a particular game? (You can use Hyperlaunch HQ to create a different emulator for the particular game to use and then set an AHK module to execute the steps above for the cheat every time you launch the game).

Thoughts?
