I-pac or U-hid?

Hi there, I feel I'm up to the stage where I can build a test CP to set up the software for it but I was wondering which I should get.

As far as I can see, the I has the shift feature which is great but I don't know of I feel I really need it, I'd have it to use down the line.

The U has the led control feature which I assume lets you control and map out LEDs? I can use it to flash lights in and around my cabinet?

I'm having deeper research tomorrow but just wondering with you guys, the experts for your opinions.

I would say it depends on your skill level and time commitment. Leds are overly complicated but take more time to setup. So if you have the time, go for it. I use an ipac and have had no issues. In retrospect Leds would have been something I would love to add, but it took me long enough with a base 4 player CP.

The only lights I think I would want or need, I'd just add cold cathode tubes to the marquee. I have the time, but I don't think I need to control it to change lights depending what game and console

I recommend that anyone building a new cab consider RGB LEDs. I have mine light up the controls to be used on a per game basis, and they also light up the color of the original arcade game buttons or system. I'm using a MiniPAC and 2 x PacLED64's and love it

It might be a bit hard for me to set up per game. Per system wheel in hyperspin would be coolz but per game is a bit hard.

LEDBlinky does all the work for you. There's a colors.ini that Arzoo has put together that contains this information. I only had to configure colors for the console systems.

Am I mesnt to use the Ipac for controls and the minipac separately for the leds? Or the mini for both?

I'd love to jump right in with the led buttons, but I'm a bit worried. It's been years since I have done any electronic soldering and I'm not a master of IT support to set it all up, that and the extra price of the led buttons and card.

You'll use the MiniPAC for the controls, and the PacLED64 for the RGB LEDs. If you get Ultimarc's Ultralux buttons there's no soldering needed since there are push-in harnesses. You're right though, the price adds up quickly and it complicates the setup.

My first build, I'm looking to make one that fits ontop of a bar fridge next to an old bar I built, as a first run practise.

When I have more money, I'd like to build the big full sized fancy one.

Same here using an ipac and a pacled64.

I'll research it for my big build. It would be awesome to use then, but cost wise I'll have to go without for my bartop
