Yes, I have .net version 4.5.1 and ImageMagick. I got it to start up twice but it asks to select a folder (what folder would that be?). Than it asks to pick the hyperspin folder and than asks to pick the imagemagick folder and when I click the ok button it disappears. It doesn't start again unless I restart the computer. I've tried on Windows 8.1 64bit and Windows 7 32bit. Same exact result.

Edit: Never mind - Got it working. This is great for my DOS games. Thanks.

I downloaded from ftp. Ran it , skipped the dialogs (cancel) and use the settings button when in app to define paths.

Win 8.1 64bit

Well I am having a similar issue. I cannot get it to open so I can set the settings. It crashes after I click OK on the set the imagemagick and never brings up the window to do anything else. I did find after you have an issue with it you need to put it in a new folder or rename the folder it is in. Tested Rebooting. Tested XP SP2 compatibility mode. Tested running process monitor to see if I could find anything there (nothing I could find pointed to where it was looking for something or why it crashed). Tested running as admin. Any help appreciated. Windows 7 x64

You shouldn't need compatibility, it was made on Win7 from what I can remember about it. Probably one of the first apps I ever made and my programming career didn't last too much longer after that so it's going to be a temperamental.

It ran ok for me just from downloading FTP version last night but had notice the first dialog box is pretty much asking for a folder for nothing then asks for the two others. That's why I alt-tabbed to bring the boxes to the front and cancelled them.

put it in a new folder or rename the folder it is in.

That's because it's probably saving application settings somewhere. I'll check it out.

I was having the same issue. What did it for me was having ImageMagik open when I stated the program. When I clicked ok, it ran and than I was able to set the paths properly from inside it. Now it works fine.

Hey dude, did you create this app?

It seems like a wrapper into ImageMagick. Can you tell me the command you run to generate the images so that I can automate the creation of wheels from a xml database?

Thanks,

Luis

Might come in handy for some people who dislike the standard text with HS 1.3.

I wouldn't call myself a programmer so I take no responsibility if your comp has a seizure over this.

Sometimes with ImageMagick you may need to add to the font name, very rare, but the supplied screenshot shows what I have to change to the Amstrad font.

Very basic options but can add more if needs be, but this does me for now. Enjoy.

I have been enjoying this program up until now. Today for some strange reason it stopped working. It just won't start. I tried re-installing ImageMagick and wheel creator and nothing. If I start WheelCreator from a new folder it asks for my hyperspin path and ImageMagikc path but than nothing. It refuses to start.

The last time I used it was 2 days ago and everything was perfectly fine. What could be the problem? I haven't installed anything on my computer either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mine did that on my laptop. I had to use it on my cabinet instead. Test a different user profile ob the computer maybe?

Thanks but no luck with that either. This is really weird and terrible at the same time.

I've been making a ton of wheels with this software and for no apparent reason it just won't work anymore. I still need to make wheels for a lot of my lesser known systems. If there ever was a Hyperspin tragedy this is it.

I'll have a look into it when I can. The initial startup always needed some work with the way it asks you to choose your directorys.

Can you try moving the folder somewhere else with the wheel creator contents and run.

I've tried. When I move it to a new folder it asks for the hyperspin folder and the imagemagick folder but than nothing happens. It does not start. I've tried it on my laptop as well and it simply refuses to start. This was one of the most useful apps for me at least. Please look into it if you can.

No, I can't Alt-Tab because the program does not start so I don't have anything to Alt-Tab to. Nothing at all happens after picking the ImageMagick folder. The pop up just disappears. Clicking the Wheelcreator.exe doesn't do anything either. There's a very brief flash and than nothing.

I'm using windows 8.1 on my main PC and Windows 7 on my laptop. It was working on my PC until last week and than it just stopped working for no apparent reason. I could never get it to work on my laptop. Dougan78 had the same problem.

Where does the program save save the settings? I thought maybe it wasn't saving them or maybe I'm missing some files required that you have on your PC but I don't? Still doesn't explain why it worked before. It's very strange.

Even if you don't give correct paths on a first ever boot up it should still load up and you can enter settings in the app.

This could be where you would find config. Would be named a bit different.

C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WheelCreator.exe_Url_wxywub2c3z4qfc2obdg5je20bmnhc2y5\1.0.0.0\user.config

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<configuration>
   <userSettings>
       <WheelCreator.Properties.Settings>
           <setting name="IMPath" serializeAs="String">
               <value>C:\Program Files (x86)\ImageMagick-6.8.9-1</value>
           </setting>
           <setting name="HSPath" serializeAs="String">
               <value>I:\HyperSpin</value>
           </setting>
           <setting name="FillColorRGB" serializeAs="String">
               <value>rgb(108,30,162)</value>
           </setting>
           <setting name="FillColor" serializeAs="String">
               <value>ff6c1ea2</value>
           </setting>
       </WheelCreator.Properties.Settings>
   </userSettings>
</configuration>

I've tried that, I've tried different version of ImageMagick, I've tried everything I could think of. Did you manage to get yours to run on your laptop? I've given up.

Currently at work. Just tried it here on a Windows 7 system and same result. It asks for the Hyperspin folder and the Imagamagick folder and than nothing. Could it be looking for a specific file such as a dll is not finding it?

Or could some software be interfering with it?

I tried it in safe mode. Same result, however when I tried to shut down windows I got a pop up message with the following:

.NET-BroadcastEventWindow.4.0.0.0.2bf8098.0:WheelCreator.exe-Application error

The exception unknown software exception (0xe0434352) occured in the application at location 0x75e8c42d
