Cladwig23
So I have hyperspin and everything running and can use the my joy sticks and arcade buttons when in MAME, but when I am in the main menu and going thru the games they don't work or do anything I still have to use my keyboard. I apologize if there is a post about this already. Also side note how do you set them up in retro arch. The pic shows what the buttons do, from how I understand this. Metalzoic
Err... your pics are upside down. How did you build your control panel? With an encoder like an iPac? If so then you should have your buttons setup under the keyboard section in HyperHQ and have Joysticks disabled. Normally you want joysticks disabled (along with trackball and spinners etc...) because those settings don't work right and cause issues. I thought that was in the setup tutorial, but maybe not. Sorry about the pics. And yes I used this set up below , I found the tutorial, thank you. I got it mostly working but when I enter into a game I can't get it to exit back to hyperspin with joy to key. Also when I hit the escape button and return to hyperspin the joystick and buttons no longer do anything. Any ideas what I set up wrong? http://www.ebay.com/itm/331626730684?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Metalzoic
I've never used Joy2key so I can't say. I believe There is a tutorial here on setting it up though. I think Spawk wrote it. Sent from my SM-G935V

Metalzoic
should I be using a different program to run my joystick and buttons?I don't know. You never answered my encoder question. if you're using a keyboard encoder like an IPAC (which is how most build their CPs) then you don't need to use a different program, you just set up your encoder. 32assassin
if he is using the encoders listed in the ebay link he posted, its a Xin Mo usb encoder, witch is a joystick encoder Only Hyperspin 1.4 supports joysticks. you will need to disable joystick support and use a keyboard mappers such as joytokey or Xpadder if you are using Hyperspin 1.3 I will recomend you use the joystick start up script http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/7415-hyperspin-startup-script/ instead of using the keyboard mappers, you will just need to re assign the joy button numbers since the script is set to use the Xbox controller. I do have hyperspin 1.
Metalzoic
Ah it's a Xin Mo... Honestly I would recommend you don't even use that and order an IPAC instead. I have no experience with a Xin Mo myself, just all the threads on here with people having trouble getting them to work how they want. 32assassin
and I would recommend ANY joystick encoder as opposed to the ipac, but that is just my personal preference. and yes I know the newer ipacs can be set to work as joystick encoders. wow that looks way to complicated, I don't think I can honestly do that. I do have hyperspin 1.4 don't let all the text overwhelm you, its very easy to set up. all you need to do is change this numbers to match your button numbers in the INI file [Controls] Joysticks_Enabled=true Joysticks_MaxNumberOfJoysticks=4 Joystick_Delay=225 Joystick_Deadzone=25 Joystick_Up=JoyY-|JoyPOVN Joystick_Down=JoyY+|JoyPOVS Joystick_SkipUp=JoyX-|JoyPOVW Joystick_SkipDown=JoyX+|JoyPOVE Joystick_SkipUpNumber=Joy5 Joystick_SkipDownNumber=Joy6 Joystick_HyperSpin=JoyZ-|JoyZ+|Joy9 Joystick_Genre=Joy3 Joystick_Favorites=Joy4 Joystick_Start=Joy8|Joy1 Joystick_Exit=Joy7 Joystick_Roulette=Joy2 Joystick_Volume=JoyR- Joystick_Volume_Close= Joystick_QuickLaunch=JoyU+ Joystick_QuickLaunch_Close=JoyU- Joystick_Info=JoyU- Joystick_Info_Close=JoyU+ Joystick_Filters=JoyR+ Joystick_Filters_Close=JoyR- after you do that all you need to do is add the HyperSpin Startup Script.exe to your start up programs in HyperHQ

32assassin
the xin mo is an encoder, their is no need for you to buy another one. the difference between an ipac (standard settings) and a xin mo is: an ipac will show up as a USB keyboard (aka Keyboard Encoder) when you plug it in to your PC. this means that you will disable joystick devices in HyperHQ, and use the keyboard keys to control Hyperspin. the draw back is some emulators prefer joystick devices. you will have to map keyboard keys for those emulators. and I said Standard Settings because the newer Ipacs can be set to run as a Keyboard or Joystick encoder the Xin Mo as you already noticed shows up as a joystick (aka Joystick Encoder) when you plug it in to your PC. you already saw the Cons to using this with Hyperpsin. the Pros is that its allot easier to use a joystick device with your emulators. their is very little to do when it comes to key mapping. but if you prefer to buy another one, your buttons will work with any encoder you buy. I personally use this (with the start up script, I don't like the joystick response in Hyperspin) http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=76_81&products_id=235 and for all intensive purposes my PC will not be able to tell the difference between a GP-Wiz and a XIn Mo, they will both register as generic USB Joysticks.
