Joy2Jey or Xpadder

  1. 1. With your Hyperspin config, are you using Joy2Key or Xpadder ?

  2. 2. Are you playing with a Gamepad or an arcade pad (Joysticks & buttons) ?

Hi,

Just wondering what people use in terms of control management, especially when using an arcade control panel.

Xpadder seems randomly crashing for me, I read that hyperHQ was now managing correctly the joysticks natively by ticking the boxes in the options (since version 1.4) when it was not advised in the past.

So in the end, I'd like to know what you guys are using because for Mame there is no problem this can be configured directly ionto the emulator options.

However, for Retroarch and other console emulators on your arcade machine (if you do), this become trickier with a control panel to configure, what have people opted to ?

Thanks in advance.

what exactly do you mean by arcade control panel?

Hotrod, tankstick other outdated pre built control panels that don't have enough buttons to support current systems?

Your PC does not care, nor it can tell the difference between a Gamepad or Arcade pad.  its either going to register as a USB keyboard or a USB joystick.

Unless you have an ancient serial connected pad, in witch case I'm curious to know what it is and what your PC registers when you have it connected.

by default  retroarch is configured to use the 360  controller.

if you have a joystick encoder or any other USB joystick,  all you have to do remap the joy button numbers to match your layout and you will have a uniform controller for all the systems Retroarch supports.

You actually have to completely remap retroarch if you wan to use a keymapper.

The only real reason to have a keymapper is if

-your emulator does not have joystick support

-you use multiple emulators and you like to use the default keybord keys

- You are not happy with the Hyperspin 1.4 joystick support performance.

I  don't like the joystick response Hyperspin 1.4 offers,  so I use Ghutch92s  start up script to control Hypespin.

with this script you can use disable joystick support in HyperHQ,  but still use your joystick to control Hyperspin,

Hi Assassin,

I have built an arcade machine so I have also created a home made control panel with 2x (1 joystick + 6 buttons + 1 player + side button) + enter / exit buttons.

I am using xpadder for the interface and navigate thru the menus, however for retroarch, I am facing issues.

I was just wondering what people use in general with a similar control panel like me.

Thanks for your input.

Hi ci2own,

Are you using a gamepad or the joystick + buttons configuration ?

Would you mind sharing your config files for Xpadder just in case if i can get some inspiration ?

Thanks in advance !
