Adamski Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Document.rtf Hi All Apologies for the attached document. It is an explaination of my problem with hyperspin.I did post it in "setting up Hyperspin" but didnt have any replies so I tried to copy n paste to here with no luck.Eventually saved to wordpad and attached. Please have a read at this or my original post. Thank you
gigapig Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Link to your original post I would imagine either there are no HyperSpinners in the Cambridge area or they are unwilling to help, kind of a long shot really. If the drive you got ripped off with failed and you are really struggling then things aren't going to be easy. Maybe give Avar's video guides from the tutorials section a go, they are easy and clear to follow. Using other guides may be confusing. There is also a 51 system build in the downloads section for Platinum members but you still need some experience with this stuff before tackling that.
badboo Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Are you located in Cambridge, England or Cambridge, ON, Canada?
j5coat Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 I followed simply Austin's tutorial, not easy at first( my roms were not named correctly ) but after I got that sorted everything started falling into place. Don't give up! Once you figure out how to work rocketlauncher its gets alot easier. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
Lamaman1971 Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Well, if you got the emulators working your on the way there. It would help to know what emulators your trying to use .... Anyway - Im new at this as well, and - like you - used youtube quite a bit. Once you understand the basic principles I found the set up far less mysterious. The issue with the youtube video's though (IMHO) is that they are far too long for something thats not brain surgery and include quite a bit of mucking around with the author's files - which is fine once you know what your doing. IMHO a vanilla build and vanilla instructions would be far far easier to follow. In a nutshell : So. Hyperspin gives you the whizzy front end.....clicking on a game in there loads another application - quite separately -RocketLauncher.....which in turn calls your working Emulation software - MAME for example. Having installed everything it would be useful to hear where your problems are exactly - Hyperspin not working? RocketLauncher not Launching?
rastan Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Pre-configured drives are a waste of money..... pre-configured systems (CABS and used pc/laptops) aren't bad if you just want what you want. Hyperspin and RL are easy to setup.. I hate to be one of those people but it's the truth. I think you're adding to your headaches because you're trying to setup Hyperspin/RL as well as trying save whats on your pre-configured drive. My honest advice is to setup a copy of Hyperspin from the ground up without using any of the stuff on your pre-configured drive. Start with MAME... get that going and once you get the hang of setting up systems in hyperspin/RL.. you can attempt to save the MEAT (Roms, etc) from your pre-configured drive.

I think the person would benefit by becoming a platinum member and download the BUILD from Hyperspin... definitely would be better off than what they paid for on that pre-configured drive. there are even other places that also have BUILDS available for download but I won't mention where lol.
gigapig Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 there are even other places that also have BUILDS available for download but I won't mention where lol. No we shouldn't as we can't support that here, unless they download our build and claim it as there own, which I still wouldn't support lol.

Gigapig can answer that for you but from my understanding the BUILD in the members downlaod area comes loaded with everything you need... in other words it's the system that should have been on that harddrive you paid for lol.

If it's not too late and depending on your payment method then you should make a claim against the seller for selling you something that does not work as stated and has counterfeit materials. Regarding the build, yes you shouldn't drop the cash just to get this build, you should pay to use HyperSync so you can easily download the artwork, but that requires you having a working set up. Emulation has been a challenge for many years, it's getting easier but still requires some knowledge or some research by you. That's the same with this build, you still need to set you controls/graphics settings in each emulator. You will also need to set your paths in RocketLauncherUI and really you should look into what else RL can do by reading the documentation on the www.rlauncher.com site and watching videos in our tutorials section. Here is a complete list systems in the build (I copied this from the Main Menu ini), there will be a few new systems added with the next release. Should be around 53. There is also a support forum for troubleshooting, suggestions etc. <game name="MAME"/> <game name="Amstrad GX4000"/> <game name="Atari 2600"/> <game name="Atari 5200"/> <game name="Atari 7800"/> <game name="Atari Jaguar"/> <game name="Atari Lynx"/> <game name="Bally Astrocade"/> <game name="ColecoVision"/> <game name="Commodore 64"/> <game name="Commodore Amiga"/> <game name="Commodore Amiga CD32"/> <game name="Daphne"/> <game name="GCE Vectrex"/> <game name="Mattel Intellivision"/> <game name="NEC PC Engine"/> <game name="NEC PC Engine-CD"/> <game name="NEC PC-FX"/> <game name="NEC SuperGrafx"/> <game name="NEC TurboGrafx-16"/> <game name="NEC TurboGrafx-CD"/> <game name="Nintendo Entertainment System"/> <game name="Panasonic 3DO"/> <game name="Super Nintendo Entertainment System"/> <game name="Nintendo 64"/> <game name="Nintendo DS"/> <game name="Nintendo Game Boy"/> <game name="Nintendo Game Boy Color"/> <game name="Nintendo Game Boy Advance"/> <game name="Nintendo Game & Watch"/> <game name="Nintendo GameCube"/> <game name="Nintendo Virtual Boy"/> <game name="Nintendo Wii"/> <game name="Nintendo WiiWare"/> <game name="Sammy Atomiswave"/> <game name="Sega Master System"/> <game name="Sega Genesis"/> <game name="Sega CD"/> <game name="Sega 32X"/> <game name="Sega Dreamcast"/> <game name="Sega Game Gear"/> <game name="Sega Model 2"/> <game name="Sega Model 3"/> <game name="Sega Naomi"/> <game name="Sega Saturn"/> <game name="Sinclair ZX Spectrum"/> <game name="SNK Neo Geo"/> <game name="SNK Neo Geo AES"/> <game name="Sony PlayStation"/> <game name="Sony PlayStation 2"/> <game name="Sony PSP"/> <game name="Sony PlayStation Minis"/> <game name="Steam Big Picture"/>
rastan Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 It's probably worth mentioning just to be clear that Giga's setup does NOT contain any roms, you still have to get those yourself. Just wanted to make that crystal since the comparison was made to the pre-config drives. Probably still the best bet since the Hyperspin part is properly setup.. all they need to do is add the roms.
Adamski Posted June 23, 2016 Author Posted June 23, 2016 Just add roms?I MIGHT be able to do that at least
rastan Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Just add roms?I MIGHT be able to do that at least other than naming issues with the ROMS you should be fine. MAME you don't have to worry about because mame uses a universal naming system so all the rom names always match.. but other systems like N64 or Genesis.. those can be problems depending on the naming format of the roms.. the rom names may not match the wheel art and videos... but that's a easy fix with naming tools like fat mach, etc.
Adamski Posted June 23, 2016 Author Posted June 23, 2016 Ok.Thanks.I am thinking that a good learning tool WOULD be to download the set that has been mentioned.I understand that I will have to put some work in and I may go wrong at times but at least I will have sound building blocks so to speak and a helpful forum too!How much is platinum membership and how big is said download please?

dougan78 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 $50 for platinum and $25 for bronze... you have to ask gigapig or one of the other hyperspin (staff) members about the benefits for eachI dont think there is a bronze. Plat only afaik.
rastan Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 I dont think there is a bronze. Plat only afaik. Was going by the info found at http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/store/ but perhaps that's old?
gigapig Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Yes as far as I know there is only platinum. You won't see any bronze members here.

gigapig Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 How big is the download please? If your referring to the 51 system build it's 1.08GB compressed, there is a smaller Mame only version and you may want to wait as I will be updating it hopefully this week.
gigapig Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Thanks.Whats in the update? Nothing you can't do yourself. Couple of systems added Atari 5200 and Game and watch at the moment Updated mame, Dolphin, RetroArch, WHDLOAD.
