Martin0037 Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Hi all. Does anyone know a way to make to video output for mame have rounded corners? Like an old monitor? Reason is, I'm using a da-lite projector screen with rounded corners and this would be much better, also would give it a retro monitor style look with some scan lines too? Can anyone help? Thanks everyone.
Metalzoic Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 You use either the HLSL or GLSL settings. If you use a newer MAME or MAMEUIFX build these are options you turn on in the settings/ini. If you do a search here you will find several threads on it.
Metalzoic Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Yes I'm using mameuifx with 0.174 roms Then you just turn it on. For GLSL you set your MAME settings to OpenGL for video mode, then turn on GLSL, then pick or type the name of the GLSL shader you want to use (your options are found in the GLSL folder in your MAME folder). For GLSL it's probably best to run a Horizont.ini with the horizontal shader for horizontal games. And a Vertical.ini with a vertical shader for vertical games. For HLSL set your MAME video settings to Direct3D, turn on HLSL, and then setup the multitude of HLSL settings found in your ini file. Or you can copy/paste the default HLSL settings that should be in your ini folder (maybe under Raster.ini? can't remember). For more detailed instructions check the Mameworld site, I think there asre instructions on Mamedevs also. I also recommend that you update your MAMEUIFX from 174 to 175 as 174 has a bunch of problems that were fixed in 175. 175 is pretty solid.
Martin0037 Posted July 23, 2016 Author Posted July 23, 2016 Brill. Thanks for your help. I'll have a go soon as I get chance
damageinc86 Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Woah that is cool. Can you show pics of the projector and how it looks on the screen?
Martin0037 Posted July 24, 2016 Author Posted July 24, 2016 is it possible though to set it to match the corners on this screen though?
griffin518 Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 is it possible though to set it to match the corners on this screen though? yep! Martin0037 Posted July 28, 2016 Author Posted July 28, 2016 I'll alter the glsl setting and post a pic but this is whatnot looks like at min... Screen is 6ftx4.5ft
Metalzoic Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 You change the GLSL settings within the shader files themselves (not within MAME). So first backup your shader files. Then read this for instructions on how to edit them http://mame32fx.altervista.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=184
Martin0037 Posted July 28, 2016 Author Posted July 28, 2016 Ok will do. Will this put any lag on the PC? I tried using bezels at first to hide the corners but the games stutter Pc runs hyperspin as it is flawless. Not with bezels. Unless I've got settings wrong Pc is 2.4ghz quad core 8gb ram
Metalzoic Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Ok will do. Will this put any lag on the PC? I tried using bezels at first to hide the corners but the games stutter Pc runs hyperspin as it is flawless. Not with bezels. Unless I've got settings wrong Pc is 2.4ghz quad core 8gb ram Bezels, GLSL and HLSL are all taxing on a system (GLSL/HLSL moreso) so to run them all you need some oomph. If bezels are lagging you might not be able to run it all. How good is your graphics card?
Metalzoic Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Inter grated graphics Ah. That's probably your issue right there. You'll probably need a decent graphics card to run both.
