phantasy Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Would anyone kindly refer me to a rom converter tool for .bin to .a26 for my Atari 2600 collection please? Even better would be a great all around multi system conversion tool as I am sure I will like to optimize my other game sets. Thank you!!
JoyStickKilla Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Why do you feel the need to do that? There is no difference between them with the extension bin or a26, so pretty much just rename the file extension if you feel you must.
phantasy Posted September 8, 2016 Author Posted September 8, 2016 Whoa! Is that all there was to it? I prefer the .a26 extension mainly because I wish for a file format that will emulate on all systems I have, from on a PC, to a Wii, to a DS to my favorite 2600 hardware clone, the MIST FPGA. Please forgive my ignorance on this particular topic, but what other system(s), console or computer does this simple renaming work with?
JoyStickKilla Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 No idea, there was a post on atariage which stated there is no difference so I am just relaying that.
phantasy Posted September 8, 2016 Author Posted September 8, 2016 Well, I suppose I will experiment with other systems when I run into problems. All the same JoyStickKilla, that news was a godsend and I found a command line bulk renamer that worked like a charm. Really appreciate it!!!
alcoatjez Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Please forgive my ignorance on this particular topic, but what other system(s), console or computer does this simple renaming work with? There are not many systems that need real converting to be playable. From the top of my head some examples that need converting are Amstrad GX4000 (bin to cpr) and perhaps Atari Jaguar ROMs. Just try renaming them. If they don't work, you can always try looking for a solution later
