Mame romset upgrade

So i was wondering if i use clrmame to upgrade my romset can i skip from 139 to 165 or do i have upgrade 1 dat at a time?

not unless clrmame has some magical powers to make all the roms between those two sets appear.

 

Best to just redownload a whole new set when you are that far apart

How is your 139 setup? Im trying to roll everything back to 139

There are 139 sets easily available on the net. I doubt really that much in terms of roms you would even play or name changes have even happened.

Actully my 139 set works great and every game i loved from childhood works. The reason why i want to upgrade is because i don't how to compile mame and i want nonag version. If i had a nonag 139 mame then i would stay at 139.

Use a new version with your romset you already have. Chances are you will be very unlikely to run into an issue

yeah, when i had a 152 set.. i never even noticed anything that didn't work when I used newer versions of the emulator... but as more changing came into play with mame it just made sense to update the rom set to match the emulator. I do miss my old 152 because it was a specially modified version that had a default bezel for games that didn't have one.
