Was thinking about buying the Dolphin Bar.

Anyone have it, used it?  Opinions on how it works...good and bad...?

How does the bluetooth work?  Worth buying?

@xALPHAxOMEGAx Has mentioned ordering one. Should receive it tomorrow or so? He might chime in with his opinion, when he's had a chance to test it out.

Personally I use the sensor bar for my Aimtrak light guns. Works great and I only have to install one sensor into the cab.

At the moment it won't work well with the newer versions because it is not supported for Bluetooth passthrough

hmmm...

Thanks for the replies.

To date been using the aimtrak sensor bar with a broadcom BT dongle.  (w and w/o Toshiba drivers) but still not totally satisfied with the controller staying On or manually turning On or Off.

The Aimtrak sensor bar works great, it's the bluetooth side I was hoping would be improved on the Dolphinbar.

Would appreciate any update.

Btw, the ones on Amazon that are going for around $12 are the ones(they say dolphinbar), correct?

Now I'm interested in knowing what you mean by not satisfied?
I have yet to install the Aimtrak sensor bar in my cab, but thought it was the route I would go to avoid having several visible sensors on the cabinet.
Have been working fine with the tests I've been doing so far. Care to elaborate?

Don't get me wrong Aimtrak sensor bar is excellent.  My broadcom BT dongle took quite a while to finally, just about get right.  There were a few software installs I had to do.

When I upgraded my HDD, I couldn't remember the software that I used or config that made it work.

Really a mistake on my side....  With the dolphin bar and integrated BT and software it would be super simple, Iguess lol :)

Again the Aimtrak sensor bar with lightgun games -> excellent

Aimtrak sensor bar with the right software, BT dongle and config, etc.. pretty good for the Dolphin Emulator (Wii).

Glad to hear it's not the sensor itself. I will however be following this thread to see what people experience with the dolphin bar. I guess I'll also do a little more testing before I settle on a solution.

Thanks.

@adamg Nope. Not necessary. Simply plug in the USB.
The Wii remotes use an IR camera to detect it's placement relative to the sensor. Which is why you see some people use candles to replace lost Wii sensor bars. Anything that emits a light in the infrared spectrum can be used.

I have read that the Aimtrak lightgun does not work with the Wii sensor bar however.

i got my dolphin bar.  this is the one i bought
https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-W010-Wireless-Sensor-DolphinBar/dp/B00HZWEB74/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1480536063&sr=8-1&keywords=mayflash+dolphin+bar

plugged it in and it worked immediately.
just had to press the sync button on my wii remote, the bar, and it paired instantly
you can turn it off and on with out needing to re sync.
it turns off after 10 minutes of inactivity
i only tried it with emulate the wii"s bluetooth adapter (selected real wii remote and it worked fine from what i can tell.

its nice that it has the Bluetooth already built in
i dont have aim trak light guns, dont plan on getting them anytime soon (lack the money)
if i ever do get them i wont mind the 20$ i spent on the dolphin bar. ill switch it out for aimtrak bar if it works the same.
i got the 20$ mayflash dolphin bar because i seen a review on the 11$ one and the guy said that you could notice some input lag and that he'd go for the more expensive one.

Have you tried any gun guns yet? I've had mine for a few years now and found that on something like House of the dead overkill that the sight would not be perfectly still. It was the PC version though.

Cool deal :) thanks for the info.  I also like how the sensor, bluetooth is all in the hardware.  Seems like it works well.

The Aimtrak sensor Does Not have a integrated bluetooth device but works very well with the Aimtrak lightgun.

If it comes down to it, I don't mind have 2 sensors above my monitor....  I made a rectangular cutout in the cab's black bezel and recessed the Aimtrak sensor, it's pretty hard to notice.

If I can just use the Dolphin Bar for both...that would be great...

kind of late but the dolphinbar works pretty well detects wii motes right away and dolphin hasnt has any issues for me. Havent tried the new bluetooth pass through tho. I recommend because you dont have to worry about bluetooth drivers (if your running windows 7 or below anyway) or what type of official wii mote version you have.

I went ahead and bought the dolphin bar.

Mode 4 (real wii motes -up to 4) works flawlessly with dolphin :)

I have 2 sensor bars mounted above my monitor, but I made the dolphin bar flush...so it's hard to see.

I think to make it work with the aimtrak gun you have to manually switch to mode 1 or 2 (mouse mode..?) and then back to mode 4 for the real wiimotes.

So decided to keep both sensors.

All works great (just like on real wii console) and lightgun as well.

Thanks again for all the help and info,

thomas

do you have the newest Dolphin Version? because I cannot handle that Bluetooth Passthrough with the DolphinBar...

Currently using Dolphin 4.0.2.  64bit version.

I haven't checked in a while, on a newer version.

I may look into it tommorrow, and get back to you.

btw, what version are you having trouble with?

I guess with Version 5.0-99x Came a New bluetooth handling Type and Since Then there is no real use for the dolphinbar

Before that everything Works good.

nooooo! lol...jeeez just my luck hehe.  Hopefully it will be patched to still work with the dolphin bar....it really is awesome.  And I just finished mounting it in a perfect slot cutout above my monitor....

Maybe we could send a friendly email to the auther of the Dolphin emulator to hopefully still support it.
