Setting Up AimTrak & Dolphin Bar

Hi, I'm looking to add both the AimTrak Light Guns and a Dolphin Bar to my cabinet has anyone any experience with setting up both?

Any conflicts with IR because to sensor bars or something not sure.

I know AimTrak bar has to be installed on the top of the monitor and the Dolphin Bar (Mayflash) can be installed either on the top or bottom.

Is it redundant to have both? or can I somehow make one of them work for both Light Guns and Wii Remotes.

Any help appreciated.

Thank you

a sensor bar is nothing more then infrared leds, spaced far enough apart so they can be used to tell the remote/gun what it's aimed at.. basically you could use lit candles ;) in theory you can use the dolfin bar for both wiimotes and the aimtraks. Aimtrak provides a callibration tool, so you could calibrate the gun.

it should work in my opinion as the aimtraks are plugged into the machine via USB cable, so the it's sensor bar is nothing more then leds, the dolphin bar has a built in bluetooth adapter to be able to pass the communication of the wiimotes to the computer.

I hope this helps.

I think there was some question about types of glass used in front of the monitor, that some can interfere with the IR. I'm not sure if that applies here, but I thought I'd mention it. @Metalzoic Do I remember you posting something about that, or am I losing my mind?

Can you only use the AimTrak callibration tool with the AimTrak bar?

I'm not certain But I would say no, you don't need aimtraks sensor bar. Unless you already found out that you do. In that case I'm happy to have learned something new

Actually this question is easy. The aimtrak sensor bar works with the wiimotes. Job done, you only need one.

so what do you do with the dolphinbar buttons ?

Nothing, I don't have one. Just have the aimtrak sensor which works both the guns and the wiimotes.

If you've got the gun, can't see much need for the dolphinbar.

Note - it's also better to use the aimtrak sensor to make both work. Using the dolphin bar with aimtrak isn't going to give the best accuracy.

well apart from synching up your wiimotes or adding new ones on the fly, using the buttons on the outside of the dolphinbar. I suppose you wouldn't need it. but then for the sake of argument, why wouldn't the aimtraks work with the dolphinbar..  on the accuracy part...that's what the calibration tool is for right ?

If dolphin is setup correctly you don't need the dolphin bar to sync the wii motes. They auto sync when the two buttons are pressed. Check dolphin input settings. Ok pairing you're going to have to do in Windows, but that's a one time thing.

The dolphin bar will work the aimtrak, however the aimtrak is trying to be way more accurate than the wii motes. Therefore it's better to use the aimtrak bar as the leds are spaced exactly how the aimtrak wants them.

Thank you so much @tonesmalone and @KlopjerO for the answers and yes you have answered my questions! if I have trouble setting up the wiimotes with the aimtrak sensor bar i'll be back [emoji3] do you notice any input lag with the wiimotes @tonesmalone?

No - though that would depend on your Bluetooth adapter.

Oh yeah I should be more clear so AimTrak sensor bar for Light Guns and Wiimotes do you notice any input lag using the Wiimotes on your AimTrak sensor bar?

No. Remember the sensor is simply LEDs and nothing more. The sensor bar doesn't talk to the computer or the controller. It's simply lights on the top of the screen so the gun/controller can see where it is.

So no lag. That's got nothing to do with which ever sensor bar you're using.

Cheers mate, do you just use your bluetooth that comes with your mobo? just curious why would the Dolphin bar have options to select top or bottom position? would you have any idea?

Doesn't really matter for Bluetooth adapter - use what you have.

It has that option because it's trying to make the option built in to the wii / dolphin more easily accessible. Dolphin / wii needs to know where the bar is so it can work out where the controller is pointing.

Really the only need for the dolphin bar over a normal wii sensor bar is that it allows the wiimote to work in mouse mode. Everything else it does, is an option in dolphin itself.

Stick the aimtrak sensor bar on top of TV. Set dolphin input options to continuous scanning on and sensor bar position top. That's it. After that fire up a wii game, press 1+2 buttons together, remote will sync and you're playing.

I've warned people not to use non-tinted glass on their cab several times, but I have no idea if that affects light guns at all. I don't use them.

I bought some guns used on an arcade,  they come with a sensor and have the recoil. They are not Amtrak rather they are thrustmaster berreta 92fs gun.  They have both a usb and Xbox cord.  Does anyone know if they will work on hyperspin?
