ChuckW
First of all, I want to thank this forum for all of the info. It was a great help in me getting things setup. I have most things working properly but am having an issue launching SNES games, Gameboy and a few other consoles. NES, MAME and all Sega seem to work fine. I have tried to launch the games in Retroarch directly and they work fine. My current setup has Hyperspin running off of a USB drive. My log.txt doesn't seem to be updating, here is all it says, and the times haven't updated in hours. 07:00:23 AM | HyperSpin Started 07:00:23 AM | Going FullScreen 07:00:24 AM | Checking for updates 07:00:24 AM | Update Check Complete 07:00:24 AM | Startup program: HyperSpin Startup Script.exe 07:00:24 AM | Startup params not set 07:00:24 AM | Working directory: S:\Hyperspin\Scripts\ 07:00:24 AM | Window State: NORMAL 07:00:24 AM | Launching HyperSpin Startup Script.exe 07:00:24 AM | Command Line is HyperSpin Startup Script.exe 07:00:42 AM | Playing intro video 07:01:03 AM | Error intializing joysticks 07:01:03 AM | Menu Mode is multi 07:01:03 AM | Loading Main Menu.xml 07:01:04 AM | Main Menu.xml successfully loaded 07:01:06 AM | Main Menu wheel loaded successfully 07:02:27 AM | Exit program unavailable 07:02:27 AM | Quiting Hyperspin 07:02:27 AM | Bye! Please create one or check HyperList. I checked the Modules folder and the SNES directory contains 4 AHK files, I created a copy of the SNES9x one and renamed it just as above, wasn't sure if that would help. thatman84
This looks like a PC log and setup?? Where does shield tv come into play?
ChuckW
I pulled those off the USB drive that's running Hyperspin on my Nvidia Shield. I followed these instructions. **link deleted** Instead of installing on my main 16GB drive I installed onto a USB drive. I downloaded Retroarch and all the cores, and most of the systems seem to run just fine.

Not gonna help for the Shield side I'm afraid Logs are a pain to get on android What specific issues do you have on the Shield? Click on a game and nothing happens, an error, can't get into the games list etc Need as much specifics on the issues. One system at a time Most problems are related to the .ini file for each system. Capitals in the wrong place or maybe referencing the wrong retroarch core
ChuckW
Click on game and screen goes black for about 2 seconds then brings me back to the wheel. Go to Retroarch directly and run game without issue. I was going to try and different core, but if it runs on Retroarch I'm guessing it isn't the core. ChuckW
Here is the SNES ini file. I thought the H:\ might be causing an issue given it's referenced as S: everywhere else, but that's the same way it's referenced in the other systems that run correctly. thatman84
cool. So you have this core installed in retroarch and tested? parameters=cores/bsnes_mercury_performance_libretro_android.so Your games are in this format? romextension=sfc
ChuckW
Yes sir. I noticed that H: path was identical to a sample INI you posted a while back on another thread. Odd.
thatman84
H:/ only matters if you are using Hyperspin on a PC. Those lines are not supported on the Android version Check the links at the bottom of this Post. Everything regarding the .ini files is covered http://hyperspin-fe.com/forums/topic/28642-tutorial-hyperspin-android-overview-and-install/
movd
I have one suggestion that got me recently. Are your roms in zip format? If so, make sure you specify that. romextension=zip, sfc Edit: Sorry, I see that was already suggested.
ChuckW
No, all of them are in SFC. I uninstalled and re-installed Retroarch, I tried both the Play Store version and 1.3.6 with no luck. I've determined only MAME, NES, Sega MS and Sega MD work. Everything else just launches, goes black for 2 seconds then goes back to the wheel. All of them will play if I launch them from Retroarch. Honosuseri
Not trying to be a back seat moderator but you shouldn't be linking to that site. I know you're trying to show the guide you followed but still, they give away Hyperspin content and games. You're breaking forum rules (just a friendly FYI) What you are describing sounds like you're trying to launch RetroArch, with a core that's not been installed. There are a lot of cores available in the online updater and it can be confusing. Ensure it's the bsnes Mercury performance core you installed as there is one called bsnes performance. I have asked if the core is installed also...seems the likely cause. @kerflug let us know. Please post your whole SNES settings file or attach it to your next post
Honosuseri
Yeah saw your post, although the OP said he has that core installed I'm not convinced. I use snes9x but again that has several cores to choose from. The ini file has been posted and I can't see anything obviously wrong. Although I would suggest having roms only=true in the filters section.
thatman84
Just to be sure go into Retroarch>Online Updater>Core Updater and download EVERY SNES core that is available
ChuckW
Got it, I DEFINITElY didn't have that core, I had the SNES and SNES2010 installed. So I need to go and install all cores for all systems or is there a list of cores for each system that is preferred? Thanks to both of you for your patience and understanding! No worries, that question is open to many opinions. It’s a case of just researching and finding out. For SNES there’s many people that stick to snes9x. personally I download ALL cores. Most are small but the MAME ones are pretty hefty on storage.
Honosuseri
I personally wouldn't download them all, partly because some cores are rubbish. For example to do the amstrad cpc you must use caprice, the croco core is useless. RetroArch isn't always the way to go, some dedicated emulators are better. I don't use RA for the N64, Nintendo DS, Dreamcast and Amiga for example. Although more often than not I am using RA, as I have set a quit key which is useful. Cores also have a habit of disappearing from the build bot. I remember a mame core vanishing which we needed to do Cave arcade games, was quite sometime before it returned. So... Either do as thatman suggested and install them all or if you see a system you think you might emulate down the road, install the core.
