sic Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Just wondering if anyone has made or maybe got hold of a whdload.xml which includes the Demoscene whdload pack? Would love to have it on my setup /sic
rascaluk Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I've just started adding a few of the demos I like to the wheel. I may, when I get time, try to pull them separately with a genre.xml for demos etc Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Hope you get finished with your wheel and maybe share it to others . I had a dedicated Amiga demoscene wheel setup with demobase stuff but would rather have a whdload setup instead.
rfancella Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 There are a couple out there already. Google this: site:hyperspin-fe.com new amiga xml The first thread listed has a large xml. There is another one too... But I don't remember what it's called. Thanks, Ron Code Monkey and all around Command Line geek!If you like what someone has said or done for you, be sure and 'Thank' them. And if they changed your life, send them a Beer!
gigapig Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 What were your favourites? Mine are the Budbrain Megademos and Jesus on E's, can't remember much else, must have been wasted on magic mushrooms at the time while watching these. Reading this also jogged my memory of https://www.scene.org which looks like it stopped awards project but may be starting up again. I've seen some amazing things done with 64k.http://awards.scene.org/awards.php

I am new to Whdload, have only used adf´s & gamebase/demobase in my setups before. If I have understand correctly I need the whdload.xml for WinUAE to know all configs for the demos/games I want to run, and what I have seen there is no whdload.xml with the WHD demoscene pack configured. /sic

I actually think I have no specific favourite as there are too many good releases, just love to watch them and drink some beers. My favourite groups on the Amiga scene are The Black Lotus, Fairlight & Spaceballs. Remember the Budbrains ju mentioned, they were pretty fun /sic
rascaluk Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Ha. I watched the Budbrain mega demo last night after this thread before Giga mentioned it. That was a piece of work, Used to love the Kaos bit. It's all on YouTube too for anybody who has no clue what we are on about. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

There is another one too... But I don't remember what it's called. Thanks, Ron So Ron, now I've thankfully moved away from using WHDLoader and now use just Winuae, can I just create a new Amiga Demoscene wheel and then the point to the relevant places? I seem to remember you said I could basically run and Rom. I've just scanned some of the demos and found some are .exe and some are .adf, that's the native format of Amiga, correct? WHDLoad uses .lha, so that Would be a problem would it? Just thinking out load. Now I've found the demobase.xml in the loaders data folder, it's 10mb.
sic Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 Phew! I just generated a whdload on my own so that I can start the whddemos in winuae. Anyone intrested in testing the Demos and see if they run as the should, if not configurate them to work?

Anyone intrested in testing the Demos and see if they run as the should, if not configurate them to work? How are you adding this to Hyperspin? I'm happy to look at it to see if I can help. I have just tried adding a "Amiga Demo Scene" wheel, Which I got the emulator to start but not the game. I created an xml based on the few demos i wanted to test. <menu> <header> <listname>Amiga Demo Scene</listname> <listversion>Amiga Demo Scene</listversion> <lastlistupdate>5/17/2014</lastlistupdate> <exporterversion>HyperTools 4.3.25</exporterversion> </header> <game name="2Unlimited (Scoopex)" index="" image=""> <description>2Unlimited (Scoopex)</description> <cloneof /> <manufacturer /> <crc /> <genre /> <year /> <rating /> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> <game name="BudBrain III" index="" image=""> <description>BudBrain III</description> <cloneof /> <manufacturer /> <crc /> <genre /> <year /> <rating /> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> <game name="budbrain Megademo 2" index="" image=""> <description>budbrain Megademo 2</description> <cloneof /> <manufacturer /> <crc /> <genre /> <year /> <rating /> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> <game name="Budbrain Megademo Ia" index="" image=""> <description>Budbrain Megademo Ia</description> <cloneof /> <manufacturer /> <crc /> <genre /> <year /> <rating /> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> <game name="Budbrain Megademo Ib" index="" image=""> <description>Budbrain Megademo Ib</description> <cloneof /> <manufacturer /> <crc /> <genre /> <year /> <rating /> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> <game name="MegaDemo 2 (Budbrain)" index="" image=""> <description>MegaDemo 2 (Budbrain)</description> <cloneof /> <manufacturer /> <crc /> <genre /> <year /> <rating /> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> <game name="Megademo 2 (Disorder)" index="" image=""> <description>Megademo 2 (Disorder)</description> <cloneof /> <manufacturer /> <crc /> <genre /> <year /> <rating /> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> <game name="No Brain No Pain (Paradise)" index="" image=""> <description>No Brain No Pain (Paradise)</description> <cloneof /> <manufacturer /> <crc /> <genre /> <year /> <rating /> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> <game name="NST FLT Megademo 3B" index="" image=""> <description>NST FLT Megademo 3B</description> <cloneof /> <manufacturer /> <crc /> <genre /> <year /> <rating /> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> <game name="Psychedelic (Fairlight Virtual Dreams)" index="" image=""> <description>Psychedelic (Fairlight Virtual Dreams)</description> <cloneof /> <manufacturer /> <crc /> <genre /> <year /> <rating /> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> <game name="Psychotic (Budbrain)" index="" image=""> <description>Psychotic (Budbrain)</description> <cloneof /> <manufacturer /> <crc /> <genre /> <year /> <rating /> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> </menu> Adding those to my Commodore Amiga database (using Winuae) and pointing HLHQ to the Roms, they all load perfectly, even zipped .dms files. It's not ideal, but it's a start, i would like them separate, just need to think about it. Thank you Ron for your advice on this.

Well I haven´t really set it up as I should in hyperspin yet but it works for now .. What I have done is this: First I created a Wheel called "Commodore Amiga Demos" then setup WinUAE Loader for the wheel. I had to edit the "MSystem" in WinUAE Loader.ahk to "MSystem = "Commodore Amiga Demos"" to match my wheel. Then put my newly created WHDload.xml in "\WinUAELoader\Data" folder and the DB in the Database folder. And last put the WHD files (Zip) in the right folder I´ll upload the files you will need in my folder on the FTP. Happy testing Cheers!

You made me smile when I went into your ftp I would prefer to continue to use Winuae for everything, but Now WinUAELoader is redundant perhaps I can use it just for the demos? I'm downloading now and I'll give it a try ASAP.
sic Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 Haha same here, the loader will work great for demos . I recently followed Rons guide to use WINuae only instead so the loader was perfect for testing this. I have started a few demos this evening and most of them seems to work. Some needs some change config thou. Im new too WHDload so im not really sure how to make a proper config. The config I use on all of them now is a "basic" one I read about in a forum. I dont have that much time to go through all demos now so I really hope more than gigapig and me is interested in this little project /sic

And Winuae will run .adf and those .dms I found, did you create that xml manually or is there an automated way of doing it? Thanks.
sic Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 Did some batch scripts to help me sort the roms and add config to each game into a xml file, then manual sorting and moving things that the script added wrong. And last I fixed so the xml used valid characters . Hope you get it up and running
gigapig Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Hope you get it up and running I did, took about 10 minutes, although some demos don't run, so I'm not sure if that's the xml or the Rom. Another thing, how did you create your Database xml as it threw up errors in HLHQ, perhaps you didn't use Hypertools. I hope you don't mind but the one I created I've put it in your ftp. The only other thing I had to do is change the path to the WHDLoad Roms in WinuaeLoader. One more ting, are any of the demos running fast for you?

I just took a "folder to xml" application to create mine to test it if it worked in hyperspin. sic Posted May 18, 2014 Author Posted May 18, 2014 gigapig: WHDload.xml is now updated with new cpu settings . Hope it will work better now Edit: Updated again, fixed some demo configs
spotUP Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 cpu settings in the xml? wouldn't it be better to let each user decide the cpu setting in uae? my config is struggling to run some amiga demos att full speed and i am using jit O_O
spotUP Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Ah, fixed it, demos are silky smooth now.. i used wrong hfreq on that screenmode. 50hz all the way now!
