The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Okay I've been out of the loop for a while, as it stands my cabinet is currently and has been in a "complete" stage for a long time now and while I'm happy to just leave it 'as is' I'd like to keep up with the times and ensure I can continue to add games and content in the future.

I have a few questions and concerns regarding upgrading.

From what I've gathered so far from installation instructions is that I do NOT replace any old files, it's a completely new installation which leads me to the following...

- Where can I find instructions on upgrade procedures (can only seem to find installation instructions)

- I put a lot of time and work into getting all my systems working by researching hyperspin forums for hyperlaunch scripts etc to get everything working nicely, some systems gave me a lot of difficulty - like daphne which I never successfully got to load through hyperspin - does the updated hyperlaunch account for this...will the systems work or will I be back at square one again researching how to get all these systems launching correctly?

- Artwork and other directories, can I just point the new hyperspin to my old directories or will have to move all these files to new directories?...Will I need to change my XML's?'

-The new hyperspin has the same 'wheel' look to it as the beta right? I'm attached to this look. I know there were alternate looks in the works in terms of wheel styles back when I was still active here.

-I'm still running windows XP on this cabinet, this shouldn't be an issue with newer hyperspin should it? - I'd rather not have to install windows7.

Sorry to be a bit of a noob again after so long...but I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into before I start disrupting a perfectly good set up..

Thanks in advance

Hyperspin is now on version 1.3.2 which looks the same but supports RocketLauncher and mp4 video.

Hyperlaunch is the major upgrade and the old version is no longer supported.

As far as upgrading goes, it is recommended to start a fresh installation, get yourself familiarised with how things work.

Please do not over write or delete your current setup, when your happy you can move over your databases and media if they are still relevant. Same goes for your emulators, unless there has been major updates you can just point Hyperlaunch at the path to the emulator.

This may not effect you but Hyperspin 1.3.2 has a bug where gamepads no longer work with controlling the frontend, you would need to use xpadder. You would also need to uncheck spinner and trackball as a way of controlling the wheel, but if your using an ipac or similar you should be fine.

There are lots of quality guides around so you can get setup, I'll post some links below.

Thanks for the response...

I guess since this does not effect my set up, I can start playing with this when I get some time to dedicate to this.

I think my main concern at this point is hyperlaunch and getting the emulators launching again...hopefully I have an easier time with this the second time around...is there a hyperlaunch I can download somewhere with all the emulators added into the script already so I don't have to change too much?

you are obviously still using Hyperlaunch 1. Hyperlaunch 2 and 3 no longer require you to know, write or modify the Hyerlaunch AHK.

your current script will not work. Each emulator has its own script (AKA Module), And they are all included with the Hyperluanch 3.x download.

just an FYI, it took me about 30 seconds to set up daphne with Hyperluanch 3. Once you have it working 100% outside of Hyperspin,

1. set Daphen as a global emulator. (set the path to your Daphne.exe)

3. select the default emulator (Daphne Global)

2. point the rom path to your framefiles

4. Start playing games

Please, for the love of god, listen to the gigapig. Start fresh and begin a new with your installation. The early headaches will far outweigh the migraines to come if you do not! It is very worth the trouble!
