Simple way to omit uneeded/double roms?

Can someone walk me through a way to simply remove games from my hyperspin wheel that are either doubles/or games that just don't have art.

I am setting up my MAME wheel in Hyperspin, and I get this;

As you can see, the XML is listing doubles, and in general, roms that I don't have artwork for.

Typically I would want to have every ROM available. But in MAME, I think over 9,000 games is a bit overkill, and just don't need them all.

Some of the titles I see that DO NOT have artwork, have ROMS, I just don't feel like messing with finding art, or renaming art to use them.

So is there a simple method of just removing all of the games on the wheel without artwork?

If you can provide links to tutorials I would be grateful, I'm still kinda new at this stuff. Thank you.

I'm not sure if there is a "wheel art only" setting, but in HyperHQ you can filter out roms you dont have, and clone roms. Which may cut your list down a bit.

Volumetric is correct.

If you have the newest HyperHQ, you can select the Wheel Settings tab. Then MAME in the dropdown.

Select the Navigation/Themes tab. Turn on Roms Only, Parents Only, Wheels Only and if you would like, Themes Only also.

rfan that actually crashes hyperspin if you turn on all 4 i couldent belive it either or it dont let you in the system theme either way if you have all 4 ticked only 2 most you can tick i think. or does the new version fix that problem now.

Relic,

Yes, the new version fixes that. So long as you have your "Rom Path:" and "Extensions:" set in HyperHQ.

Thanks,

Sweet!!! Forgot to mention... A bug in HyperHQ prevents it from spanning sub-directories, so your roms need to be in the same directory for this to work. Even if you tell it to search directories, it doesn't. :(

Hey guys, thanks for the help! Found the setting, everything looks great now! Too bad I only have 4,000 Arcade roms to play now. I am going to get bored quick!

One thing I can also recommend is replacing the database xml file for mame with one that does not contain casino/mahjong games (and mature games if you have kids playing on it).

brolly made some excellent ones. Select the one you need for your version of mame.

On hyperspin FTP: /Upload Here/brolly/MAME/

Then just make a backup of your Hyperspin\Databases\MAME\MAME.xml and rename the one you download to MAME.xml instead. Should bring it down a lot further.

Before I did that, I had it idling in the mame wheel, randomly selecting games when my family was over. All of a sudden a big moan and it sounded like a porno started. Very funny.

Edit: Here is brollys post on it. Thanks brolly! =)
