yuljk Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 I thought I'd post my setup, as it took a week of testing to get things working just right with Snes9x. One of the main reasons I switched to snes9x over zsnes for SNES emulation was due to being able to stretch the image correctly to fit my HD TV running at 1920x1080, which zsnes was unable to do. Things you'll need:- Snes9x 1.52 Xpadder (If you're using a gamepad) Updated HyperHQ and script from the Hyperspin forums (Sorry, was unable to post links due to a low post count) Firstly install Snes9x and configure your input options under 'Input' to match your gamepad. Now move to 'Options' and then 'Display Settings'. You'll want your options to be setup like so:- Output Method: Direct3D Fullscreen: Ticked Emulate Fullscreen: Unticked Stretch Image: Ticked Maintain Aspect Ratio: Unticked Bilinear Filtering: Ticked Under 'Fullscreen Display Settings' set your desired screen resolution (I set to the native for my HD TV (1920x1080) and enable V-Sync. Once completed, click OK. Now at this point it'll switch to fullscreen mode. (DO NOT HIT ESCAPE) as this will crash snes9x. Instead, hit CTRL + ALT + DEL and kill the snes9x.exe process. Doing this ensures your config is saved successfully, allowing snes9x to open in fullscreen when called from Hyperspin. Now that we've configured snes9x, you'll need to replace HyperHQ.exe and your script file with the ones available on the Hyperspin forums Once completed install Xpadder (If you are using a gamepad). The reason I used Xpadder was so that I could easily map the 'Esc' key in Snes9x (which quits the program) to a button on my controller, thus allowing me back to Hyperspin to select another ROM. Once you have installed Xpadder, create a new profile and grab a background controller image for your gamepad from their forums. Configure all of the buttons on your controller (this is very straightforward with the Xbox 360 controller) When you get to the Advanced Assignments screen, simply map a button on your controller to the 'Esc' key on the keyboard. (Note: Ensure you set xpadder is set to autostart during Windows bootup) That's it! You should now be able to launch Hyperspin, select a SNES game and it will launch in fullscreen mode with Snes9x. Once you're finished simply hit your assigned Esc button from xpadder to close Snes9x and return to Hyperspin! Hope this helps for anyone looking for an alternative to zsnes
blur Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Did you tried to uncheck "Use 4:3 ratio" in zsnes? In other thread somebody reported that should fix stretch problem. DanArtSigns Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Every time I launch an snes game through HS the display settings reset to defaults. If I open it manually they stay they same as I set them to any ideas?
DanArtSigns Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Nevermind... found it The module I had reset it to 4:3 when I went through hyperlaunch
Gavster7 Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Thanks for the tutorial yuljk, Works a treat
zerojay Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 If your PC can handle it, I would say skip snes9x and zsnes completely and head to bsnes. It is a far more accurate SNES emulator and fixes tons of issues that the others cannot or will not fix. Why does accuracy matter? Glad you asked: http://byuu.org/bsnes/accuracy
meLisCha Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Interesting read, might have to give bsnes a shot. Sent from my HTC Wildfire S using Tapatalk

AirTaco44 Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Hey yuljk. Thanks for your info. I searched around for good while before coming across this. I got it to go full screen and stay that way the first time I followed your instructions. Then, I had to reinstall my setup and now it won't stay full screen. I did the same steps I did the first time, but no luck. When I launch through Hyperspin it just resets to default 4:3. To get full screen for Super Nintendo is a real pain for some reason. Znes was garbage too. Regardless if the aspect ratio box was unchecked, it always went back to default 4:3. Snes9x is the only emu that I got to work full screen, at least up until now that is. Hope someone could help with this issue.
relic Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 guys this is real important make sure you go to the ahk for snes and check these settings i know i had the same problem apart from that make sure you grab the ahk that belongs with that emulator thanks and have a nice day. Fullscreen = true Stretch = true resX = 1024 resY = 768 DisplayRomInfo = false ; Display rom info on load along bottom of screen 100%
Ind_noobling Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 For those who are having trouble with it reverting back to windowed mode, try this. Set all your video/audio/controller options.Exit the emulator. Open snes9x.conf Look for this line Fullscreen:Enabled = TRUE it should be set to true. save and exit. Right click the file and set it to read only. Shouldn't become windowed again. A quick and dirty fix that works. Also, it has pretty nice shaders. Even bsnes has them but that emulator requires a beastly machine to run it properly
AirTaco44 Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Yeah, I got the ahk for snes9x 64 1.54 and created the module for it. The first time everything worked like a charm. I wonder what is different now? Hyperspin is up to date too. Thanks for your input relic and Ind. I'll see if messin with the ahk will fix this problem.
AirTaco44 Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Thanks for that info with the ahk and conf files relic and Ind. I had to edit both files to make them match up. Now it works full screen without any problem. Thanks again! Much appreciated!
AirTaco44 Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 By the way, I'm also having the same problem with project64 1.7. I go into the ahk and conf files, but nothing works to make full screen. The emu launches full, but not through Hyper. Is there a thread on this? Can't find anything helpful. Hope somebody could send me on the right direction on this one too. Thanks.
djvj Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Don't use PJ64 1.7, use 1.61. BTW, there should be no need to edit the snes9x cfg file directly. Setting the option in my module changes snes9x side for you. That's the point of the settings in the module. To give you quick access to troubleshooting issues, you can keep the module open in notepad and edit/save changes w/o having to close anything. AirTaco44 Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Why not PJ64 1.7? I originally used 1.6 but could not get it to work on Hyperspin. 1.7 worked without hassle, except for the typical annoying fixed 4:3 ratio that is a pain to get rid of. I also edited the Snes9x module script first, but it still would reset to default 4:3. Then when I edited the conf file along with the module script it worked perfectly. That's my experience so far. Don't know what to make of that. So, how do I make PJ64 1.6 work? I already read threads that were basically useless. The only advise they had were to take out quotes for the exe. Tried it and it didn't work. Any info would be appreciated djvj. Thanks.
djvj Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 1.7 is very buggy and a mess of an emulator which will lead to issues, even if you don't see any right now. In the end, use what you want, it's your decision. If you can't figure out your issue with 1.61, then stick with 1.7 until you notice bugs. yuljk Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 Hi guys - I'd stick to the settings in the Hperlaunch 2 module (this guide was written back when I was still using Hyperlaunch 1.05) If you are still having issues, I have upload my snes9x.cfg file as part of post on my blogsite here www.apollon-domain.co.uk/?p=358 Hope this helps
daronthomas64 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I am trying to get my snes9x configured to change the primary input to my lightgun to emulate the superscope. I can open the menu and select superscope but I cant seem to find a command for the superscope in the .conf file? Anyone have any idea on how to make it the primary?
