RA Upgrade Config issues

Merry Christmas Hyperspinners.?

Been a while using RA 1.5 so I thought is time to do some updates on emulator
Jump started with RA stable build 1.8.2 (non installed pack 64bit) .

System : Win7 Pro

These are the steps I did to upgrade

1) Renamed my existing Retroarch folder
2) Created new folder with same name as my existing RA folder
3) Unpacked the new version
4) Transferred files from my Config folder + retroarch.cfg + retroarch.core.cfg to new version
5) Tested systems via RL (Nintendo Game Boy , Nintendo Game Boy Color , etc) ,
Result : RA build shaders are gone not same as what I set before.
6) Redo the shader setting again saved configurations. Relaunched the game from RL & back without shaders.
7) Checked my folder policies are read/write permit. Do not understand why RA is not saving my settings.

All my Config files was renamed to system name as usual. I did not change anything.
Anything important I missed above or did wrong which messed up my new RA?

Please give your valuable comments thank you so much my friends.

Retroarch can be so fickle! When I update I always need to start from scratch.

Are the shaders compatible vith video driver?

slang: coregl, Dx, vulkan

cg, glsl: gl

Vulkan is better with compatible cores as it has "free" hard gpu sync and don't break timings as "hard gpu sync" tends to do on some cores.

If you had a "wrong" shaders selected, the old version of RA crashed, now it just don't load  the shader.

Ah, beetle psx core is totally broken with PAL games: it shows black borders and wrong aspect ratio. Some coders say it is supposed to replicate original hardware, i had a PAL ps1 back in the days and I can tell you it didn't boot with black borders...

Thanks for the info it is very useful. I have also checked video driver settings are correct and shader and overlays work, if I set them 1 by 1. They just dont save. Now I am using same config files with RA.1.5 my files are been saved if I do any modifications in RA. I noticed my RA is 1.5 handy what does it mean?Maybe the version I have downloaded is incorrect?

Does it mean RA no more need of config files?Instead just saving every config on each core? What if 2 system using same core?
