shredder Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 I've reached a point after several days where I am completely out of ideas with this and looking for some help or suggestions. I am trying to get the gce vectrex overlay to align with what is on the screen. I have tried editing the {gamename}.cfg file in ..\config\VecX\{gamename}.cfg and this seems to adjust both the overlay and the lines for the vectrex...but not just the lines ...i don't know what else to try...help please. I feel like if i can get this worked out for one game, then i can repeat the process for all games. Right now I'm using Spinball to assess alignment. Lines need to move up slightly and to the right. Otherwise everything else appears to load and size properly it's just the lines that need to move.
shredder Posted March 27, 2021 Author Posted March 27, 2021 anyone? ....is this the proper forum thread? If this is impossible to move the lines to their proper position I think that would also be an acceptable answer because I've tried about everything i can think of and it hasn't worked...but i thought i would try asking on forums to see if anyone else has got this to be in the proper positioning. If no one else has an idea...then i pretty much have my answer.
Spawk Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Since you are using RA, the libretro forums may be a better place to ask.I have a feeling it will all depend on the combination of video settings in RA and for the core. So it will look different if you use “core provided” or you force 4:3 say.I am no expert here though so ask over there. There are some really smart people over there.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
thatman84 Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 You would need to use a custom video aspect ratio. Think I did a video on how to adjust it, I will take a look. Also if the overlay dimensions are not pixel perfect (the probably aren't) it may not be possible to line them up perfect. shredder Posted March 28, 2021 Author Posted March 28, 2021 Alright, thank you both for the response, I agree in both cases, but I'll ask on the RA forums to see if i can get a definitive answer. For some reason this is a weird one and adjusting the X,Y position in video settings moves both the overlay AND the lines so basically i'm just moving it around the screen rather than adjusting just the line sizing....Thank you both again for answering
shredder Posted March 29, 2021 Author Posted March 29, 2021 Circling back to this for future readers. I posted on the Libretro Forums, but didn't get much help there. I ended up switching the Emu to ParaJve. I switched away from this Emu to consolidate the number of different platforms i was using. I liked the idea of RetroArch being an All-in-one solution ....originally. But I thought i would give ParaJve another go. I don't like that it's Java-based. But in terms of accuracy and easy of use...it's unmatched IMO. It has seemingly true vector rendering, the overlays match the vector lines and pretty much everything is built in. Just simply had to implement it in RLauncher and make a few preference adjustments for vectoring in the emulator and done. Hopefully this helps someone else in the future.
