Dogway Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I wasn't going to post more on my thread (hijacked btw by brolly who made it personal and closed the thread) simply full of users insulting me. Anyway I wanted to suscribe what gigapig said. "The clue is in the name "Hyper" "Launch" not "Hyperlaunch can do fucking everything, even stick a broom up it's ass and sweep the floor." That trick is reserved for DJVJ, that swel guy can do anything" HyperLaunch seems to be by now way over HyperSpin, so I don't/didn't think that making something like HyperSpin v2 would be that impossible. As for brolly. "giga: Your last paragraph is so obvious that I'd expect someone that has been around for 2 years(!) would be aware of it by now, guess not... " You are wrong, I registered here a few months ago, if you cared to check with your admin/mod powers. And with all that said I know there are some art that doesn't suffer from this scaling, at least for some animated art (couldn't spot a good background), for example the battop art. It shows fine, but for example the "press start" videos don't as the buton legend as seen in my sig video. How do you make art that is compliant with the way HyperSpin scales?
zomboided Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Flash can smooth the graphics, but it's optional (ie depends on theme) and slows stuff down. HS doesn't smooth themes made using Hypertheme. You should probably stop moaning about it and arguing with people. It is what it is. The alternative is for you to remake all themes in flash with smoothing switched on. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

If you check my sig video, you can see a flash color button legend I made, and it shows aliased. I'm asking how to make it show fine as the linked bat top flash videos. Where is the "smoothing option" you talk about? edit: (Sorry if my questions sound like moaning to you, because it's only your perception)

These layers of Hyperspin are animated SWF's they are pre-rendered and because of that the reason why the bartop is playful and the Legend is normal or regular. You understand all this because you made the legend. however I think (was it manicshere for the bartop?) he typed the text and transformed/rotated each individual letter. that way getting that playfull look. | My themes / downloads | Get the MS-DOS Wheel sound pack | Get your MS-DOS game themes here | Get the MS-DOS wheel set here | My YouTube channel | WarcrafT - Lord of the clans |ZeroJay's Ultimate DooM archive
Dogway Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 o_OU lol Nono, I was having a hard time trying to understand what you were saying, it's not font type, mother of god! hehe This is the issue, aliasing fest, mostly noticeable on background images, the left is bicubic sampled, the right... who knows!
KlopjerO Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 o_OU lolNono, I was having a hard time trying to understand what you were saying, it's not font type, mother of god! hehe This is the issue, aliasing fest, mostly noticeable on background images, the left is bicubic sampled, the right... who knows! yea that right one does suck. so what am I looking at here? Do you start with the left and you end with the right? read through the closed post. You question is clear.. and you don't like the answer. basically it comes down to this: Hyperlaunch is a backend utility, hyperspin is a frontends. back end lets your configure complex actions regarding settings and launching games with custom settings. front end makes it look nice. and yes Hyperspin also has some back end features but are primitive compared to Hyperlaunch. front end isn't actively developed anymore. all tools and new insights and features come from the community, not from the original programmer. if you want better resolution on your themes, read the Unified megatheme threads to learn how to make HD themes in Flash for awesome Hyperpin HD goodness. | My themes / downloads | Get the MS-DOS Wheel sound pack | Get your MS-DOS game themes here | Get the MS-DOS wheel set here | My YouTube channel | WarcrafT - Lord of the clans |ZeroJay's Ultimate DooM archive
zomboided Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Each of the graphics in flash has a smoothing option (as well as jpeg/png (ie lossless or not)). Switching on the smoothing option fixes the crappy graphic display in themes. I'm guessing it'll do the same for the special art. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Unknown50862 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 While I don't think I can solve your issues, I do believe I can help clarify a few things. You are wrong, I registered here a few months ago, if you cared to check with your admin/mod powers. This might be some cause for the confusion, as most people are probably expecting you to be a member that has been around for several years. If you did just register a few months ago, then it seems there was a bug with the forum that caused your profile's join date to be inaccurate. If you look at your profile it says your join date is April 2012, not April 2014 when you actually joined (or at least started posting). The status of Hyperspin v2, the limitations of HyperLaunch, etc. These questions have been asked at least a hundred times, so you might understand why some would find it a bit ridiculous that a member with a 2-year tenure would be oblivious to these answers. Though people might be a bit more forgiving with your questions if they realize you are still relatively new. HyperLaunch seems to be by now way over HyperSpin, so I don't/didn't think that making something like HyperSpin v2 would be that impossible. As was said, development on HyperSpin v2 has pretty much stopped ever since BBB lost interest/got busy with other things. This leaves us with several issues that cannot possibly be fixed outside of Hyperspin, short of building it again from the ground up. While not impossible, it is still a very tall order and not something anyone is willing to tackle in the foreseeable future. It took quite a few people and more than a year to enhance Hyperlaunch to get where it is now, so you can see why no one is eager to start a new project. In the meantime, there have been some clever workarounds to resolve some of the current limitations for Hyperspin. Hyperlaunch was one answer to expand on the functionality of Hyperspin, but it is only capable once a game has launched and not able to directly manipulate Hyperspin. Even then, Hyperlaunch is only able to do this because it was hooked up while Hyperspin was still in development. How Hyperspin handles the art is one of those things we have little control over. It also helps to know that it treats aspects differently, as you have noticed, specifically the Special Art will likely scale better. The best reason I can give for this, is because the Special Art requires flash media whereas themes are generally expected to be built using basic image formats (.jpeg, .png, etc). However, there has been recent development with building themes in Flash that has allowed for better resolutions (see Unified Megatheme threads). This might help with your issue, though keep in mind that it does require you to have the source materials used to create the original theme. Here's a step-by-step for this method. There is also some other outlines out there if mine aren't clear enough, and there was even talk of putting a video together but I don't know if that ever got done. I've been out of the loop for a bit. http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?31490-New-Unified-Megatheme-Other-systems&p=300527&viewfull=1#post300527 Unifieid Megatheme - Themes, Extended (on-hold), Additional Systems, Wheels 1/Wheels 2, Fade, Bezels, Letter Packs, Pointers, Controller Icons My Hyperspin Setup
Dogway Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 Thanks for help Unknown50862, yes it's a bug of the forum, didn't think it would cause so much stir so I didn't ask for a fix on my join date. I started with HyperSpin mid March and registered a month later. There are 2 questions on the table here, fix the background aliasing issue (discussed on my previous and now closed thread) which seems impossible at this stage as you well explained, and the second question; to make flash videos good looking. As you can see the battop flash video looks great, but my button legend looks aliased. So my thinking is this is a fixeable thing, or there are at least workarounds. I asking for the experience of those around here for a time that know the ins and outs of what or not to do when creating art (in the end this is the sub forum for that right?). For the button above I had done what you explained on the link: - Open Flash and create a new ActionScript 3.0. - Go to File > Import and choose one of the artwork files. Make sure to set it to Lossless (option on the right, forgot it's name). - Get the size of that artwork from the resized Photoshop file and resize it to that in Flash. A good way to get the size of a layer in Photoshop is to copy it and then create a new file from it. I don't know if I need to make the flash video square, or set a custom DPI, size or something, I'm very lost when it comes to flash, my thing is Photoshop. Obviously if you don't know why this happens, no need to answer, but these 3 months here I grew used to don't get answers to problems with solutions so I started to think this became to be niche knoweledge or something. @mattedsmith: you mean in A. Flash or in HyperSpin? I have smooth enabled on HyperSpin.

Dogway Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 @mattedsmith: there's no such option, as far as I checked. Here's a screenshot. In A. Flash if I check "Publish Preview" it shows fine, in MPC-HC it shows badly aliased until I click on Zoom->Auto-Fit. So I guess is a way of how the HS renderer is scaling flash movies. For example if I open my flash in the browser it shows fine. These are the options: The only thing I can think of is that the battop flash movie is using vectors (not rasterize) due to the animation and hence scaling doesn't have an impact on it.
zomboided Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 In Flash, it's a per graphic property. Google 'flash bitmap smoothing' [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
