eezetee Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I was toying around with ePSXe tonight outside of Hyperspin at first and I have a couple of questions for setting it up in hyperspin. 1) Is there a setup guide like Gigapig's guides for Playstation 1 using ePSXe? I haven't been able to find one 2) Is there a requirement to use DT to mount the images? 3) If no for #2, can I use the mooby2 disk image which will load the bin/cue with transparent mounting?
gigapig Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Hi eezetee I prefer PCSXR over ePSXe, no need for DTLite as it loads images directly. The plugins are simpler also and Sweetfx works well also. ePSXe may be able to do the same but I've not checked into it.
eezetee Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 Hi Giga, I'll take a look at it, thanks. Any chance you have a guide for setting it up? Or maybe a few screen shots of the major settings? I like the fact that I don't have to use DT and can mount the bin/cue within the emulator as my DT has some strange problems with the drives appearing/disappearing.
32assassin Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 ePSXe guide http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?29906-Guide-ePSXe-in-HyperLaunch-3 the big draw back to ePSXe is that you will have to spend some time configuring the video plugins/settings specific to your hardware. When I was using ePSXe; I actually had screen shot images of my settings just in case I lost them. I'm currently using PSCXR and the draw back to this emulator is that you have to use very specific settings (instructions are in the module) for the CD drive if you wan't to use DT. GigaPig already mentioned this but you can avoid this by eliminating the use of DT.
gigapig Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Here's screens of my configs. Graphics plugin, remember I'm using Sweetfx which requires DX9. The CD plugin I setup before realising that it wasn't required, so drive L is my DT Lite SCSI drive, you may be able to just leave this as default. And finally sound which is possibly the default settings. Fine tuning I've never done, so I'm not sure if you can have specific configs per game.
eezetee Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Thanks a bunch 32assassin and Gigapig. I toyed around with PCSRX last night and got it tested with manual bin/cue load and within the emulator. I'll possibly test the hyperspin setup this evening. Looking to avoid the DT part if I can and just use the built in as the plugins they have seem to mount and dismount the bin/cue's very quickly. Anything special about the Hyperspin setup? Point to the exe, search sub dirs, file type is iso/bin/cue and that's about it?
eezetee Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 I can get PXSXR to load the bin and play a game, however, when I added it to Hyperspin (HL, and HHQ) i get a brief flash of a loader box and that's it. I tried recording hte screen to see if there was an error, but it's the PCSXR window that flashes very briefly. Is there a way to debug hyperspin to see if there are any errors? checked the debug.log and it was basically empty.
eezetee Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 In HyperLaunch, setting the Sony Playstation to not launch DT (DT = false and SCSI = false) fixed my issue for this one game, haven't tried others. The question about debug mode still stands if you guys have an idea where to look.
gigapig Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 If you still want to hide windows flashing try using fade, it may help and using bezels as well.
eezetee Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Hi Giga, The issue with the window flashing was because the emulator errored due to my settings. The flash was just the emulator loading and my incorrect settings. Once I get everything setup properly, I will most definitely be setting up fade. Might even look at some script to push a few buttons to get past some annoying advertisements. Any idea on the debug?
