Out of curiosity, do you use the full hyperlist XML?

While using a few tools and creating my list of games that I know (not necessarily the games that people that play my arcade know) and seeing posts from folks with thousands of games, I wondered

Do you keep the entire Hyperlist database in your hyperspin build or do you edit?

I can't image sifting through thousands of games to find the one i'm looking for. I do however use my memberships to download the themes and videos for all the games but edit the XML with only hte games I want. Is there a better way?

I figured most were hoarders of old school ROM sets. What do you do if you have some buddies over and you have to scroll through thousands of games? I guess the favourites work. Maybe it comes down to a bit of a "yeah, I have that game" kinda thing.

For MAME, nope. Silly to do so. Too many clones. Too many games that require special controls. Too many mahjong games. Too many casino games. Too many adult games. I edit down the HyperList with Don's HyperSpin Tools. Also, makes it so there is less media to have to download/sync with HyperSync. I documented how I did this

(3rd section). It's the easiest way I know how to do this.

@Albert, yep, that's exactly what I do. Minor difference is that I exclude all and spent a couple of hours going through the media/system/video games (after hypersync) and using those I'll have one window open with the playlist of videos and another window with Don's hyperspin tools then just do my control-F to add it. Worked well for me. I just checked and I've got 198 games in my MAME list. Well plenty for me.

Good video and I've added it to my list of helpful links that I'll share back with the forum.

I use brolly a XML in his folder on the FTP that gets rid of mahjong and casino games. I then use themes only which covers most popular games and makes my cab look awesome in mame. I'm sure I'm missing some good games but when new themes come out its like getting a new game.

I think it's a great idea to have a list based on themes/artwork. That way like you said, it's kind of like finding a new game when you see a new theme and add it to the wheel. With thousands of games, I think that kind of brings the fun back into discovering games you either haven't played in forever, forgot about, or never knew about in the first place.
