The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

I am new to HyperSpin but not to this type of tech project. I have 20+ years of computer experience and administer my office network and IT department, but HyperSpin has me banging my head against the wall. :dontknow: This is my 3rd evening to work on this project, and I'm approaching 10+ hours with minimal results. I really want to get this program up and running, it appears to be head and shoulders above the other options. Please give me your suggestions.

I followed the ghutch92 thread "How to Install HyperSpin" several times, thinking I had missed a step. Each time I have the same problem.

Launching HyperSpin works, then the splash screen intro loads, the main system wheel appears, I can scroll up and down and see videos, but when I press ENTER I am immediately kicked back to the MAME system on the wheel.

I have ROM files in place. Maybe my XML filenames don't match the ROM files? How can I check and correct this problem? What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

once you install a system you will see how easy it really is, all you need to do is invest some time to learn the basic

features

1. learn how to modify Hyperpin with the use of HyperHQ

here

http://hyperspin-fe.com/oldsite/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&Itemid=55

note that any reference to Hyperlaunch 2 should be ignored, the main thing you should take from this page is how to use HyperHQ.

2. if you like a more detailed instructions for Hyperlaunch

https://sites.google.com/site/hyperlaunch2/home

second and more important, is that you can have a number of issues, it will be very easy to pin point your problem if you post your Hyperlaunch log.

http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?26044-HyperLaunch-Read-Before-Posting!

you can find it at Hyperspin/Hyperlaunch/Hyperlaunch.log

make sure to include the forum

at the top and end of the document.

Welcome to the forum.

You most likely have something set incorrectly in HyperHQ, which is the GUI for Hyperspin, and Hyperlaunch HQ is the GUI for Hyperlaunch.

So as the problem is with Hyperspin you need to look at Hyper HQ.

My guess is you have a wheel filter set and perhaps have not set the Rom path or extension.

So here I have Roms only checked.

So I then MUST have the Rom path filled in also, and extension so Hyperspin knows where to look and what for.

With most other emulators none of that needs to be filled in if the Rom set is small and your using Hyperlaunch to launch the games, but with Mame it's different because the library is large.

Also make sure you have some speakers plugged into your PC. Check link in my sig for known bugs.

Sent from my phone using Tapatalk, probably while at work...

Thanks guys! I appreciate the insight and suggestions. I followed gigapig's instructions and photos (which were fantastic) and managed to get a game to play. I also followed Agrajag's advice and plugged in speakers.

One last thing. Strangely, the only Nintendo file names that appear are those that (1) begin with a number, or (2) start with the letter "A". What setting do I need to change for this problem?

Thanks again!

Do you mean after an audit or on the wheel?

Maybe your Rom set does not match the xml in that case which is typical of some console sets.

Solutions would be to find a "No-Intro"Rom set which some xml's are based on. You can also attemp to rename the Roms you have using Dons Hypertools, and finally you could create your own xml based on the Roms you have. That method is easy to do with Hypertools but not recommended.

Open the xml and check against your Roms, or run an audit in HLHQ.

Well done again GIGAPIG!!! I re-imported the latest XML file and all of the games are now listed. I also found a no-intro set of NES roms and that worked too. I'm going to try to set up MAME next. Thanks again for your help!

I just tried to run MAME arcade games and the screen goes dark for split second, the word "Loading Game 0%" flashes on the screen and it kicks me back to the MAME system menu.

I did more investigating and it seems that MAME is very version specific. My MAME roms are likely from an earlier version. How can I get games that are compatible with the current MAME 0.154b? Am I looking in the wrong direction?

FWIW, I am running a Q8400 CPU, with Windows 7 PRO 64 bit, 4GB RAM, 2TB Seagate Hybrid Drive, with a Radeon HD 6450 graphics card.
