alostsol Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Just a sneak peak at the hard work I and a few others have been doing on this intensive project. My first youtube video ever. Taadaa! PyAPQIZ1MR4 This is a work in progress. I have done nearly 200 videos. Age of Empires needs to be redone so the cursor doesn't have that swirly. This is a group effort of mostly myself and 2 others as far as the visuals go. Hope you enjoy. All oriignal Art, Videos, and Coding.
Mr Black Arm Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 That is looking great. I'm new to GOG, are they pretty much mouse and keyboard games?
alostsol Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 Yes, but they have a few that work great on a controller with some of the platform games like Earthworm Jim and Rayman games.
loppydog Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 this looks nice! thanks for the hard work. How far along in the project are you? Is your goal to include ALL GOG games?
alostsol Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 Right now we are concentrating on 400 games. With the constant updates, its been difficult adding more and more games as we worked on the system. At 400 games we put a hold on adding anything beyond that. Once we have all 400 done we will be adding in the rest. The cut-off was around the time Atlantis 1 was released. But like I said, no worries as we plan to catch up to everything released after that.
ChazMan Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 When will you be releasing the Main menu and Templates.
alostsol Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 No ETA just yet. Main idea to releasing this preview is to let people know this kind of project is in the works. One of the artists is MIA atm, and has slowed down the project considerably.
johndarc Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I did not know Another World was a pc game... that game was my BANE for the SNES
alostsol Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 It is still being worked on. Seems the most tedious and difficult part is the making of quality videos. I've done close to 400 videos. The system has A LOT of games. Some games are very difficult to record, not being compatible with FRAPS or CamStudio. I've never liked videos where the person does not know what they are doing, or dying over and over. It's no fun. I know if I watch a preview video, I want the person kicking butt. There are just a couple games I simply cannot execute this on. Namely the flight simulators. We are also implementing some flash to incorporate the What's Cool that gog.com lists for each game. A Ton of stuff has been done. But with a system like this, they are constantly adding games and we are doing our best to catch up and not fall too behind. I believe on my youtube channel there are 2 examples of the flash and Whats Cool feature. Everything is still a work in progress on how best to implement all this. We have even made many custom covers in the same style as the unofficial gog covers on gog.com for games that do not have their own unique cover. I hope this answers any questions anyone may have.
alostsol Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 I did not know Another World was a pc game... that game was my BANE for the SNES Another World was also on the Macintosh. That is where I first seen and played the game myself. I'm pretty sure it was available on a few systems. It was a popular game back in the day.
alostsol Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 Right now, the videos is what is taking the longest to do. We have most of the art done. These videos are not done due to the complexity of the game, no access to the game, I have not yet played the game, or the software I use will not record the game. These are the missing videos atm: 7th Guest 11th Hour Alien Breed Alien Breed Tower Assault American Conquest American Conquest Fight Back Apache Longbow Apache vs Havoc Atlantis 3 B17 Flying Fortress Battle Isle 3 Battle Isle Historyline Battle Isle Time Caesar 3 Call to Power 2 Capitalism Plus Celtic Kings Chris Sawyer's Locomotion Comanche vs Hokum Combat Chess Combat Mission Commandos 1 BEL Commandos 1 BtCoD Conquest of the New World Conflict Desert Storm Cossacks European Wars Cossacks The Art of War Cossacks Back to War Crusader No Regret Crusaders of Might and Magic Desperados 2 Disciples 1 Dungeon Keeper 2 Earth 2150 Escape Earth 2150 Moon Earth 2150 Souls Earth 2160 Empire Earth 1 Empire Earth 1 Conquest Empire Earth 2 Empire Earth 2 Supremacy FA-18E Super Hornet Freespace 1 Freespace 2 Hitman 1 Hitman 2 Imperial Glory Interstate '76 Interstate '76 Nitro Invictus Jagged Alliance 1 DG Jagged Alliance 2 UB Jagged Alliance 2 W Journeyman Project 2 Lands of Lore 1 Lands of Lore 2 Lords of the Realm 2 M.A.X. 2 Master of Orion 1 Master of Orion 2 Master of Orion 3 Might and Magic 9 Myst Oddworld 1 Oddworld 2 Patrician 1 Patrician 2 Patrician 3 Police Quest SWAT 1 Police Quest SWAT 2 Populous 1 Populous 2 Port Royale 1 Port Royale 2 Postal 1 Republic Return to Krondor Riven Robinson's Requiem 1 Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 Scratches DC Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri Silent Hunter Sim City 2000 SE Slipstream 5000 Soulbringer Speed busters Star Control 3 Starflight 1 Starflight 2 Superfrog SWAT 3 GOTY Syndicate Thief 1 Thief 2 Time Commando Total Annihilation Editor Total Annihilation Kingdoms Total Annihilation UFO Aftermath UFO Aftershock Ultima 4 Ultima 5 Ultima 6 Ultima 7 Black Ultima 7 Serpent Ultima Underworld 2 Wing Commander 1 Wing Commander 2 Wing Commander 3 Witcher 2 Enhanced World Rally Fever Worms Worms Reinforcements Zork Grand Inquisitor This is for those wanting to know the progress of the setup. Some of the scripting has been done but not yet tested. We have been concentrating more on the artistic content, videos, and database, as without it there would be no point having the scripting done.
ziggy Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Hi, i was just wondering if you ever finished this and if it was available anywhere? I have some gog.com games (mostly 'quest' games) i'd love to add to my cabinet and your video looks great. Thanks. Custom built full cabinet: 64bit Windows 7, i7 - 4790, 8GB RAM, GTX 760 Graphics, 24" Widescreen, Customised X-Arcade tankstick, Aimtrak light gun.
matchaman Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Any updates on this one? HyperSpin is the OCD curse we all love to love
damageinc86 Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Yeah, at least release the system theme and a main menu theme, then whatever game themes you have at the time, and then that way people might be able to fill in the gaps for the project on their own eventually. Incomplete is still better than nothing when it comes to a collection like this.
