Hyperspin Wheels not working.

Hi all,

I probably have missed something simple but I have put Hyperspin on the PC and now hyperspin launches into the main menu wheel only. When I press Enter to open up a system(MAME for example or any of the other systems) instead of opening up to the system theme and wheel the screen goes black and then comes back to the main menu wheel sitting on MAME wheel image.

Also instead of the ESC button exiting Hyperspin it freezes/pauses the transitions/videos etc on the theme. When ESC is pressed again it unpauses.

I have tried changing both keys for esc and enter in hyperlaunch with no success. Currently the only way that I can exit is to use taskmanager to endtask.

P.S. I should add that I can launch MAME through Hyperlaunch with no issues at all. For the life of me I cannot see why none of the system wheels are working.

The funny thing is that I have this working well on my laptop with no issues at all until transfering it to the PC. I thought that something may have been missed in the transfer so I installed it all again and the same problem exists.

Some guidance or help on where to look first would be very much appreciated.

1st thing to check would be that your hyperspin\database\mame\ folder has an mame.xml in it. Also, how are you launching mame with hyperlaunch if you cant get into the mame wheel? Another thing to check would be your settings in hyperHQ, if you have mame set to show only themes/wheel, and you have no themes or wheel art, this can happen.

Yep, deffinintly a MAME xml file in there. There are xml's for all the different systems. This happens on any system that I try to open in Hyperspin.

I can open MAME using Hyperlaunch 2.07 which workes fine. This isnt going into hperspin so the wheel issue isnt a problem.

The problem for me seems to be that the enter and es keys dont do as they are supposed to (for some reason) and that I cannot open up any of the system wheels/themes when I press enter on it (MAME was just an example as it happens with all the system)

It seems as though when I want to open up a system wheel/theme(MAME for example) it loades up the Main Menu.xml instead of the system .xml for some reason. This happens on all of the systems that I try to load. It explains why the main menu is reloading all the time.... as that is what is happening.

Can someone point me in the direction where I need to go to look to see why this would be happening.

Plus my settings.ini just incase something is stuffed up.

I'm not going to be able to add much value to this thread, but for what it's worth I have the exact same issues. Just moved a fully functioning Hyperspin to a new PC and am now having these issues.

If you are using HyperHQ Wizard to create systems, you will never have a problem like this. Do NOT move one setup from one PC to the next unless you have full understanding of how HS and it's dir structure and xmls work.

Start with a fresh install and you will eventually see where you went wrong.

Problem is that when I had the issue with moving the set-up from the laptop to the PC I then made a complete new install and I'm still having the same issue. The only things I then copied over were the Roms and themes and Emulators. No XML or ini files were transfered.

Guess I'll start from scratch again and see how it goes.

Freshly installed HS with no intervention at all. Still set with the original 1.0.48.2 Hyperlaunch. Totally untouched. And still the same issue as you can see below.

Everytime I try to open up a system it loads up the main menu.xml instead of the system one(MAME.xml for example.

BBB always mentions that you need a speaker setup or a sound card or something or other. To be honest, it's late over here and I can't remember exactly. Check your audio setup and make sure you've got something in place for your new PC. I'll search the threads more after I've gotten some sleep.

I'm continuing to mirror Thommo's approach to reinstalling all the software, but I too can't shake the issues. Hypnoziz may be on to something with the sound card. I'm getting an error message there, I'll go ahead and reinstall the sound card and see if that fixes the issue

Nice catch Hypnoziz, forgot about that one. Make sure you have a sound driver installed and speakers plugged in. Having speakers is especially important from memory (its late here too).

Well that might make some sense seen as though I havnt bothered setting up the sound card as yet!

Will let you all know how I go tommorow when it isnt so late. Not that I will sleep knowing that there is something to try now.

It appears that the 'sound issue' was actually creating the larger issue of the escape and enter keys not working to access the emulators. Guess a 'cause and effect' situation. Thanks for all the help!

Well there you go!!!!!!!(as you can tell I couldnt sleep )

Installed Sound driver and now all works peachey again.

Who would have thought that sounds would impact on the way HS operates.

Cool, glad you guys got that worked out. When I format, HS is the last thing getting put on so I have never come across something like that, nor have heard of HS being affected in that way. Learn something new everyday.

Thanks for the thread, I unplugged speakers to paint them and HS would not load sub wheels. Glad I found this thread before I dug the hole deeper

I know this thread is long dead, but I'll follow up anyways.

I had the same problem, but it was fixed when I plugged in a pair of headphones into the jack. I didn't have any speakers hooked up (because I'm setting up the software before I move the machine into my cabinet)

I have copied my setup to many different systems with no problems.....Except for once...make sure your audio drivers are setup and speakers plugged in.......otherwise Hyperspin will only load the menu.xml over and over....Hope this helps

This worked for me. I was having the same problem and I searched like a mad man. Finally after several key word attempts and after reading this I plugged my speakers in and poof everything works again. Thanks Hypnoziz!!!!
