avisioncame Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Control panel is almost all done getting wired up. I am trying to exit MAME using a key combination. Something like; Joystick down + Player 1 Start. I have read that turning off Hyperlaunch to launch MAME streamlines this process. My problem is, when I turn on Hyperlaunch in HyperHQ, selecting a game from HS just does nothing. Do I have to set up a MAME settings.ini (don't think I even have one setup) Could it be because of my file paths? I have MAME like so; HyperSpin>Emulators>MAME>v0152b(or whatever the version is)>roms Thanks for the help fellas.
albert_c Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 The only thing turning off HyperLaunch does is simplifies the setup of MAME in HyperSpin. But you will end up losing all the cool things that HyperLaunch does, so just leave it on. As far as exiting out of MAME, you would setup the 'UI Cancel' command in MAME to 'Joystick down + Player 1 Start'. You would do this in MAME itself (hit TAB once you launch a MAME game). And whether or not you enable HyperLaunch or not in HyperHQ has little to do with how this function works. When you find great deals on Craigslist for CRT based cabs, exuberance can be a bad thing! Current status of cabs: 0/5 working as desired :wallbash:
gigapig Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Like Albert says, if you want to use fade and Hyperpause etc then you need to setup Hyperlaunch, you do that in Hyperlaunch HQ; have you done that? If you don't want those things and you want the game to start quickly then forget Hyperlaunch and just setup Hyperspin and the controls in Mame.

This. I don't care much for fade, and would prefer the game to just pop right up. I turn off Hyperlaunch in HyperHQ, specify executable and rom paths, but when I select a game...nothing. Just doesn't do anything.

Be sure you have Use Full Path To Roms: Enabled Here is a setup that does work. crean99 Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I redefined my P4 8 Button to be ESC in my IPAC4 card. I just hit that button and I'll exit out of the MAME game I'm running. It'll also back me up a level in the Hyperspin menu. So, for mgmt keys, I have 3 coin keys for players 1 through 3 for Guantlet and then I have a Pause key and an Exit key. For Running MAME outside Hyperspin, just double click the MAME or MAMEAPP executable within the Hyperspin Directory >Hyperspin>Emulators>MAME><yourexe>.... You can also create a shortcut of the exe and put it on your desktop to double click. Ed. Ed.
