We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Missing systems

Hey guys, i'm trying to add more emulators thru HyperLaunch HQ, but i can't seem to figure out how to update the database "which is what i'm thinking the problem is". When i'm in HyperLaunch HQ, on the left side. It only says 20 systems found. I want to add Nintendo Game Boy and Nintendo Game Boy Color, but i don't see it. When searching thru the folders, i noticed it only shows the 20 systems in the Hyperspin/Database folder, and also in the Hyperspin/Settings and Hyperspin/Hyperlaunch/Settings. I tried manually downloading the xml for Nintendo Game Boy and adding it to the database, but that didn't help. I also copy/pasted a file from another emulator and renamed it Nintendo Game Boy in the Hyperspin/settings folder since they're identical, but that didn't help either.

Isn't there a simple way to update the systems. I doubt every xml file needs to be added individually. I understand you need to set them all up individually, but there should be a quick way to add the xml file for the emulators so that they show up on the left in HyperLaunch HQ.

Hope someone knows what i'm talking about.

Thanks in advanced

Hmm, i figured out a way to add Gameboy on the left side with HyperHQ and now i'm going to try to use HyperSync for the media. I'm guessing that's the only way to do it? I figured there would be a way to sync all the systems, and then all i have to do is add the roms and emulators, and use hypersync for the media.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I figured that was the way. I have most of hyperspin figured out now. Only thing i need to do is figure out a way to clean it up. Seems like mame is showing every single rom made, which i don't have. i'm trying to figure out a way to only show the roms that i have. I did some research and tried a few things, but nothing worked. First thing i tried to do, was open hyperHQ and add themes to all the roms, and then click the box where it said show themes only. That minimized a bit of the roms, but there was still many roms that i couldn't click. I also tried show roms only, but that brought up nothing, not even artwork. Tried the don's program and minimized the roms to the ones i had, saved the xml to the database, and it still didn't work. I also tried an xml program to create an xml file from my roms folder, i thought that was going to work, but it didn't either :-( Been fooling around with this all day and it's now almost 12:30 am lol. Time flies when i'm messing with hyperspin. I just purchased the x-arcade tankstick controller, i can't wait to get it. Hopefully i can get things figured out before i get it gets here.

Thanks all for the help.

How did you "add themes to all the roms" in HyperHQ, there is nothing in HyperHQ to do anything like that. Also checking the roms only should indeed only show games on the wheel that roms are present for. Also, if you made a database with only roms you have and that didn't work as well I am going to assume you didnt save it to the right spot or name it the right thing. Looks like you got some issues there in your setup.

Umm, maybe i wasn't adding them to all my roms? I didn't do it with HyperHQ. When i was in HyperSync, i seen a huge list of roms there before i clicked sync. Maybe those are all the games and not just the ones i have. When i'm in the don's program. it says that i have roughly 5000 of 9000 games. I added the xml i made from the don's program to the database, but it still shows games i don't have. Which files do you think i'm having naming issues with? It would be nice to have just my roms showing. I used fatmatch to rename my roms. I noticed some roms said 98% instead of 100%, could that be an issue? Some games try to load but then go back to the "all games" screen. I wonder if it's maybe issues with my roms.

i played around with don's hyperspin list generator and was able to exclude a bunch of stuff. I narrowed it down to 1079 of 1079 games when checking roms in hyperlaunchHQ. But when i click on some games, it attemps to load, but then flashes and goes back to the wheel with all the roms "not emulators". When doing this, i was getting an error, which i'm trying to duplicate, but now it won't even let me select a game, i'm clicking enter, and it lets me get up to the point where i select a rom, but won't let me select one. The error that i was getting, was something like, "waiting for ahk, and that i should do something with Fade"? It would boot me to windows but stay open at the rom page in the background.

edit: i restarted my pc, and i was able to click on the roms again, but it was doing the same thing, flickering and not playing the rom, and then it would stop letting me click a rom, and eventually i received this error...

"There was an error waiting for the window "ahk_class MAME" to become active. Please check you have the correct version emulator installed for this module, followed any notes in the module, and have this emulator working outside your Frontend first. Also turn off Fade to see if you are hiding your problem"

edit: weird, i just tried playing the rom in mame and not thru hyperspin and it says "working" and shows up in green, but then it says that the seclected rom is missing one or more required roms or CHD images. I'm thinking maybe it's the rom itself that's creating this issue. I'm going to try and get another copy of the same game and see if that helps.

edit: Yay, i figured it out. It was a bad rom file. Seems to be good now :-)

I had that today with Gravitar which has previously worked. Maybe it's just an issue with Mame 0.155 or it no longer works with that version.

i'm using 0.155, i've also tried 0.154. Both didn't help. But if i search around for a different copy of the game, i can get most roms to work. For the games that i can't, i'm just setting them as exclude with don's hyperspin. It's taking a while doing it this way, but it's going to be clean once i'm done :-)
