atari2600 nightmare

so i'm setting up hyperspin using the "the hyperspin project" , which is not as plug and play as it sounded, however i've been scouring these forums and getting things up and running system by system. I hit a snag with a2600, i'm using mess which i read mixed reviews but stella is not working either. I keep getting a "E:\downloads\Roms\Atari-2600\ no cart with provided extension"

files are .bin, this is the only thing i messed with as the original download were zipped as .7z which is not in the hyper launch extensions(it think a2 and bin) so i unzipped them and they are .bin now

my suspicion is that the .xml does not match the roms in the folder, however the whole point of the hyperspin project is that its supposed to match so thats one less thing you have to worry about. well on this hunch i d/led the hyperrom2xml, backed up the original and the new one indeed opens all the roms and it works....but i lose all the art work.

so i put both xml's side by side and i notice the original has a few extra words in the titles, so i made one entrypp match re inserted the original with that update and no artwork, same error message....now i'm content with it just working and i doubt i'll even play a2600, but my ocd is really nagging at this one and i'm at 2hrs so if anyone can give me some advice i'd really appreciate it.

PS - if i open messui.exe all the roms show on the right side and i can launch them no problem. and my hyperlaunch.ahk has the a2600 -cart command...

I'd guess people buying shitty drives from even shittier peddlers. But then, maybe people are just getting hype, didn't Hyperspin get put on TV or something?

I do have some advice, actually. Reinstall Hyperspin anew. Don't delete all that stuff you have yet. Donate here to at least get access to the FTP. Install latest Hyperlaunch and update with GIT. Donate there too because it's amazing.

Lastly, use the FTP to find the legit xmls for all systems. Use Don's tools to rename your roms to that naming schema. Then use fatmatch to rename your artwork.

OR, get a platinum membership here, rename roms, and have Hypersync download official artwork. Throw a couple bucks at a monthly subscription at emumovies, and have Hypersync download all correctly named official artwork AND video previews with a few button clicks.

Lastly, enjoy your games in the "most balla" or as I like to say "ballest" way possible.

:D
