Yardley Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Hi all, I want to rename some files (roms/themes/wheels) to match a new XML database I downloaded for Visual Pinball. Is there a tool that can load a database and rename a data folder based on that database automatically? I know theres a tool called Hypersync (not the one from EmuMovies) that lets you select a database which shows on the left column and then your data folder which shows on the right but then you have to manually go trough and match the two. Is there anything that will do this automatically like FatMatch? FatMatch works of off roms not the database XML otherwise it would be what I'm looking for. Thanks!
32assassin Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Fatmatch is going to be your best option, but you need external files to make it work. Option 1. get this program http://emumovies.com/forums/index.php/files/file/1174-hyperspin-asset-xml-audit/ it has a program called "Create Fake Files" it will create an empty folder and an empty AVI file named for each XML entry. You can delete all the empty folders you don't need them. Keep the avi files Open Fatmatch : 1.Use the empty fake Avi files as your roms path 2.Use the VP tables as your artwork source 3.rename Option 2 (basically the same as option 1) Fat match again this only works if you have a full set of artwork named to match the XML. 1.Use the artwork as your rom path 2.Use the VP tables as your artwork path 3. rename Option 2 is how I renamed my Atari Lynx roms, Don's tools will not rename them http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?25975-Atari-Lynx-Roms-not-matching-database-CRC&highlight=lynx

I already renamed everything but this will come in handy in the future, especially the program that creates the fake files. I used a combination of tools including FatMatch and FuzzyRename. FatMatch was great to rename the wheel images but for some reason it wouldn't rename the themes, it would scan and match everything but wouldn't actually execute the action. I think I used FuzzyRename for the themes.
